9 month pit mix needs home Houston/Austin
My mother in law rescued a pit mix a few weeks ago and needs to find her a home ASAP. Here's some info:

"she weighs some where in the vicinity of about 45 pounds maybe. I don't have a scale but she feels like she weighs about the same as Rory. I don't think that she will grow anymore but she will probably fill out some. Ask around for me. Tell whoever that I can meet them half way if they want her.
Thanks for any help you can give me. She's really sweet an deserves better than she has had so far. Gets along with the cats, Rory, and all people. I have not had her around any children but have no reason to believe that there would be a problem, especially with an older child. She is learning what "go out" means and has made some good progress. She has jumped over a 31" baby gate but respected that barrier all day today so she is teachable."

If we can't find her a home in Houston, I may drive down and pick her up and foster her until I can get her into a home or a rescue here. PM me your email and I can send you some pics if you're interested. She's grey and white. They did a number on her ears though- can't figure out what "shape" they were shooting for...
Thanks!!

1. Poor baby. I'll ask around.
Sadly, I just took in two (one Pit mix, one Havanese mix) dogs a couple of weeks ago. I'll check with my daughter and her peer group though. They're all have more energy than I do anymore. :)

2. Thank you so much!
My mother in law found her on a porch in her apt. complex with no water and the ants were about to get her. Turns out the guy who left her out there was dog sitting and left her out for the owner to pick up, but he never showed. Guy can't keep her b/c he takes care of an elderly relative. He wasn't being cruel- just thought she was going to be picked up. Original owner doesn't want her back (obviously).
Appreciate the help spreading the word!

4. I'm a volunteer with
Barrio Dogs, who focus their efforts on the East End. They've been full for a while now, but please contact them and she can direct you to some pit-specific rescue/foster orgs in Houston.

I have three now, one's a pit/lab mix, all neutered females. If I get a fourth Houston requires me to have a kennel license.

3. Not at home enough for a pet. But saw a truck selling
puppies at a Walmart parking lot today and had a conversation with my friend about how horrible it was that people are still breeding animals when there are so many unwanted ones waiting for a good home. It is a lousy situation.
