White Gaining on Perry in Latest Poll
Texas Tribune 6/18/10
2010: Perry 48, White 40

The latest Rasmussen Report poll results show incumbent Gov. Rick Perry with an 8-point lead over his Democratic challenger, Bill White.

The new numbers have Perry at 48 percent to White's 40 percent. Meanwhile, 5 percent are going for some other candidate and 8 percent are "not sure."

This is tighter than Rasmussen's previous poll, which showed Perry leading White 51 percent to 38 percent.

Of all Texas voters, 53 percent approve of Perry's job performance as governor, while 45 percent disapprove.

The pollsters also found that 15 percent of Texas voters view Perry very favorably, as opposed to 21 percent who view him very unfavorably. Those stats for White are 18 percent and 16 percent, respectively.

53% of Texas voters approve of Perry's performance, really? Unbelievable! :grr:

This poll was after the $10,000 a month Perry rental story where Perry lied about who made the decision to rent that mansion.

1. Burnt Orange Report has summary of all polls this year
Burnt Orange Report 6/18/10
Latest Rasmussen Poll Still Shows Rick Perry Under 50%; Public Poll Average Still 47-40

Rasmussen has another poll up, showing that Rick Perry -- who is known by 100% of Texans still can't crack 50% in a poll. In fact, Perry clearly got no bounce from the Republican convention in Dallas Last week.

From their report, with Perry up 48% - 40% over White

It's good to remember what they point out, an incumbent whose been governor for almost a decade is polling under 50% - not so good.

5. I hope so too
The Arizona crap, Perry's chickenshit position not to debate White, the huge budget mess plus the whole new round of fight club stories at state institutions.

People in Texas need to wake up and give Perry a pink slip soon!

6. Even Perry's buddy Burka who loves kissing Perry's ass says this
Burka blog 6/18/10
(snip)
Perry’s high negatives and unimpressive favorable/unfavorable numbers give White something to build on. But Perry’s 14-point edge among independents is the number White has to change if he has any hope of making this a real contest.

It's really hard for me to believe that there are so many "independents" in Texas. I think people just don't want to say what they are to pollsters. Anyway the poll claims Perry is favored by independents by 14% points.

4. Cecile Richards, Ann Richards daughter, fund-raising for White:
http://blogs.chron.com/texaspolitics/archives/2010/06/cecile_richards.html

Cecile Richards, daughter of Texas' last Democratic governor, is making a fund-raising appeal for the man who wants to be its next one.

"My mom, Governor Ann Richards, taught me that Texas is at its best when the doors of opportunity are open to all. That's why I'm asking you to join me in supporting my friend Bill White as Texas' next governor," Richards said in a letter asking for contributions of $35 to $250 "or more."

"As governor, Bill White will make us proud," said Richards, who repeated to a favorite saying of her mom's in slamming the GOP incumbent: "Rick Perry has taken credit for everything good that ever happened in Texas. As mom would have said, he's a rooster who crows and thinks he made the sun rise."

Richards called it "critical" that donations arrive by June 30, allowing them to be counted when July 15 campaign finance reports are filed.

"Each candidate's total will be widely reported, and with your help, we will show that Bill has momentum and a strong team," she wrote.

7. kicking it for Bill
I really do hope that the tide has turned and we'll continue to see good numbers for Bill White and more bad stories for Perry.

8. The same brain dead people who voted for Bu$h are supporting Perry...
It's sad how ignorant the typical Texan is. I'm surrounded by Bubbas and I call my town in Texas "Bubbadom".
