I sent Cornyn an e-mail re: blocking the Holder nomination...
Edited on Sun Jan-25-09 10:40 AM by Ranting_Wacko
... and I suddenly find myself on a mailing list for the Conservative Republicans of Texas PAC.

I'm torn between sending them another angry e-mail for thinking I'd be interested in this or just leaving it be so that I can see what they're up to.

Actually, it was pretty inspiring and instructive... reading a leading Republican saying "Now, we know that Rick Perry is too liberal, but if we're going to get anything accomplished, we're going to have to work together."

This is their idea of bipartisanship. Conservative Republicans working with Moderate Republicans to keep their house of cards in Texas standing.

Can't wait for 2010 and the blood-bath that is sure to come with Kay vs. Perry...

1. Is it a hard copy mailng list or email?
I like being on the hard copy mailing lists. I take their postage paid envelopes, put expired pizza coupons in them and mail them back. Costs 'em 37 cents every time!

2. E-mail.
I'd definitely remove myself if it was a hard-copy newsletter. Costing them pennies doesn't make up for the dead tree.

7. I'm on every single environmental hard-copy mailing list on the planet
Sometimes twice due to different names. I've written to them, told them that I can afford to donate only once a year, and still I get every campaign piece.

Due to environmental groups, I turn in probably five-fifteen pounds of junkmail to recycling every month. I do hope it gets turned into someone's toilet paper.

3. If you can hold your breath and stick around it's worth it
You can keep us posted with what's going on the side that is "reality challenged".

I signed Cornyn's guestbook a while back to leave him some comments and he sends me his regular e-mail newsletter grandstanding about how effective he is. It's a hoot to read. Here is a snipnet from the January 9th newsletter:

On Tuesday I had the honor of being officially sworn-in to the United States Senate for another six years. It has truly been a privilege to represent the fine people of Texas in the Senate for the last six years, and I am ready to hit the ground running in the new Congress. I will do my part to ensure that the needs of Texans are a top priority.

I know these are hard times for many Texans, and tackling the economic problems we currently face is my top priority. I will push to enact pro-growth, common-sense solutions, such as tax breaks for small businesses and American families, that will help put our economy back on the right track.

While some would rather delay, I believe now is the time to address the critical issue of our growing federal deficit. The Congressional Budget Office has forecasted that the deficit will reach $1.2 trillion this year, and this projection does not include President-elect Obama’s spending proposal, which may total more than $1 trillion. Congress cannot keep writing checks for future generations to pay, and I remain committed to finding ways to reduce out-of-control federal spending.

Additionally, it concerns me that the Democrats’ proposed economic stimulus package is being written behind closed doors with little input from outside parties. I will continue to be your strongest advocate for a more open and transparent government that allows American taxpayers to know how their hard-earned dollars are being spent.

Now he has a problem with the federal deficit. Nary a peep when his bush boy was running the deficit up with the cost of two wars. That wasn't the time to speak up.

And he's so concerned about back room closed deliberations now. Where was his concern when bushie was wiretapping the American people? Oh that's right - he has no problem with torture or wiretapping Americans. Those processes should definitely be done behind closed doors with no input from the American people. :puke:

Damn! That merited the cherished Roffle Chorus!
Turtlehaid, I'm gonna mix some metaphors on you. Don't bother closing the barn door now...that ship has sailed, baby!
It's departure time? Right about the start of those last six years you're so by-god proud of.

"Additionally, it concerns me that the Democrats’ proposed economic stimulus package is being written behind closed doors with little input from outside parties."

Waaaaah! I can't sign a bill that Halliburton didn't help write!

Stop yer cryin', ya big wuss. And remember...the Constitution is no longer used for blowing your nose on. Buy a hanky. Jeez...

5. Elephant on Elephant
My favorite blood sport. In fact, the only blood sport I enjoy.

Election day 2008 was beautiful. My own personal Super Bowl. Watching the moderate, Jesus freaks, and rich fight each other for status in the failing little kingdom - one tiny little precinct in north Harris County.

They're out of touch with reality and blaming each other.
