3. To be fair, there are two Republican legislators in the reserves.
Rep. Frank Corte, a Lt. Col. in the Marine Reserve and Rep. Carl Isett, a Lt. Commander in the Naval Reserve.

6. Naming a replacement........
According to yesterday's Chron, Rick can name someone to replace him, til he gets back.

He said, he may name is wife Melissa. At anyrate, it will remain a Democratic seat, for what it's worth, given the current makeup in Austin.

8. Well thank you................
I saw your "accent" and had to check. My wonderfully funny and irreverant father was born in Brooklyn, raised in Massachusetts. Nice to hear the great New Yawk sound. Though, in my area of Houston, most sounds are Yankee or "someother" immigrant sounds. I should explain, many Texans call everything north of Oklahoma, Yankee. LOL
