(Dallas) KLIF-AM "support the troops" rally Saturday
http://www.klif.com/oes.html

Local right-wing radio...

snip-

Bring an American flag to 570 KLIF's Operation Enduring Support rally, Saturday, May 15th, from 3pm-6pm at Flagpole Hill in Dallas.

KLIF's Darrell Ankarlo and Greg Knapp will co-host the rally, which will include patriotic music, guest speakers, arts and crafts for the kids, and a special flag planting ceremony at 5pm. Also, the Marine Moms will be on site to collect supplies for our troops in Iraq.

Let's cover Flagpole Hill in a sea of American flags. You can purchase flags at all North Texas Wal Mart stores for around $2. The dimension of the flag should be 12x18.

1. Seriously, a group of people have to show up to "support the troops" on
our behalf. I'm not talking "Support the troops, bring them home" stuff. I mean show up as if the rally was thrown for us and have signs that say, "support the troops, give them Va benefits", "full pay for reservist in war zone", "Treat our Vets like the heros they are, open the VA hospitals", "No military families on food stamps, Pay them like the heros they are". That kind of stuff. Just show up like you thought the rally was meant to "support the troops"

2. Why don't they donate the money they will be buying flags with
to the troops??? I guess Wal Mart needs the money. Or maybe Wal Mart should donate the flags, yea right.

3. Sounds More Like A Bush Party To Me
I was thinking the other day that if I was to wave the flag a little harder, that maybe, just maybe, we would be more successful in our war on terrorism. Or that maybe it would make our troops safer somehow. Maybe stop the senseless, callous slaughter of innocent people we don't even know. Or even, that it may make us a more thoughtful and considerate country. Hmmmmmmm.

After all, if I understand it right, If you don't fervently wave our flag, fly one in front of your house, or car, you are a traitor.

I have always given our flag the respect it deserves, for what it truly represents, I always will. I didn't need 911 or our soldiers in harms way to remind me of the greatness of our nation, I've always known. So for me to wave the flag in this manner would be a little disingenuous at best. Old Glory deserves better! She deserves those of us who fly her to truly understand the ideals that she represents. Without this understanding it's only a piece of cloth in the wind.

How about a gathering for world peace instead? How about a hope rally for our men and women in harm's way in hopes of their safe return home? Why Not Give Peace a Chance!

4. KLIF Wasn't Always This Way...
KLIF wasn't always a pool of conservative buttlickers, but oh times have changed.

5. Owned for years by the late Gordon McLendon, liberal Texas Democrat.
Way back in the 60's when rock was on AM it was the most popular rock station in the area.

6. There was a time when KLIF was the best station on the radio.
Boy, it is tough getting old, isn't it. I miss it. It is really hard to believe what I hear on KLIF today (poor Gordon, he must be screaming in Heaven).

I feel as though I am in another world. And it isn't mine.
