Philly Black Clergy to back Specter, a Republican, in Senate race

WASHINGTON An influential group of black clergy plans to endorse Republican Sen. Arlen Specter next week over his Democratic challenger.

The Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity, which represents about 450 churches, generally supports Democratic candidates, and was instrumental last year in helping Philadelphia Mayor John Street win re-election.
