Casey's rotten stem cell vote
why a man who supports emergency contraception cannot get behind embryonic stem cell research is beyond me
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/04/11/AR2007041101736.html?hpid=topnews

For the second time in nine months, the Senate today passed a bill that would loosen President Bush's restrictions on human embryonic stem cell research, but once again falling short of the 67 votes needed to override a promised veto.

The Senate voted 63 to 34 to pass the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act, which would allow federally funded studies of stem cells isolated from embryos slated for destruction at fertility clinics. Read more..

Bob Casey (D-PA)voted against. The final vote was 63 YEA with three Democratic Senators not voting, which means we need only one NAY defector..

Is Bob Casey in hiding??? He should be after this vote

1. I knew it wouldn't be long before he disappointed us.
The only difference between him and Santorum is that Casey is a nice man. He don't necessarily need a nice Senator, we need one that represents his constituents.

6. Bull-fucking-shit
Are you really this stupid? It was one vote. You may not have liked it but everything Sanitarium did was bad.

3. This was not unexpected but I still rather have Casey in there than Santorum
Anyhow, I still think Casey is going to run for governor in 2010.

4. no to pro-life governor
would rather have him in the senate than give him free reign as governor on choice issues

5. I'm the same exact way - which is why I campaigned for Rendell in 2002
As long as Casey is NOT on the judiciary committee, he can do very little harm to the pro-choice movement. But if he were governor and somehow RoeVWade was overturned, he could have a major impact in Pennsylvania

7. Please send Senator Casey an email telling him how you feel about his Stem Cell Vote.
http://casey.senate.gov/contact.cfm

Here is a copy of what I sent him.

I am very disappointed in your stem cell research vote. We needed you vote to help override President Bush's veto. I think you need to remember this state voted out Rick Santorum. If you are going to vote the way he did, then we all wasted our effort. Stem Cell Research is very important. It can save lives. The embryos just get thrown away anyway. I don't understand why you would not want a life to be saved by something that is just thrown away. I know that you’re catholic. I am catholic too. I do not believe a good politician allows their faith to legislate for them. There is a tall distinguished, very intelligent man from Massachusetts, in the Senate, who could explain this to you. Maybe you should invite him out for a cup of coffee.

8. I sent an email and called his office
Doubt if it will change his vote. I'll be really ticked if his vote costs us an override of the veto.
