Correcting the record - one rag at a time

Well, the bogus story of the Origin of Taps appeared in the September edition of the local monthly - the Richfield Times.

My radar went up when I stumbled across the following (see right-hand side of page - "The Origin of Taps"): http://scriptype.com/R0905/R05.html


Well, I checked out one of the better places (snopes), and confirmed what I expected.

So, I fired off a note to whatever I thought was the publisher (a consortium of a bunch of local monthlies focusing on local towns).

Imagine my surprise when, instead of a nasty reply, this showed up in the October edition: http://scriptype.com/R1005/R09.html

I guess that I was the "notice" . . .
