I see that the PD STILL can't get it's own head out of Bewsh's ass even though practically everyone else has long since dug their way out of the Elephant shitpile. DeSwine represents all that is WRONG with Ohio politics and is constituent poison. Anti-choice, Anti-gay marriage, Anti-labor, pro-corporate, pro-war, pro-Bewsh on pretty much every major issue, soft on REAL terror and long on true progression of the middle class of this state. Yeah, that's the kind of guy I want as my state senator. He sure hasn't let us "dowm", hasn't he?

This tidbit remains particularly telling:

(regarding Brown) His positions on those issues - especially his opposition to the major trade agreements that have opened myriad markets to U.S.-produced goods - have long been a concern to this newspaper, though. They tend to come more from the playbook of the AFL-CIO than the platform of the Democratic Party.

Jesus Christ, I don't know what's worse: that it's said like it's a BAD thing or that they're completely clueless to what those major trade agreements have DONE to completely decimate the strength of the unions, the job market for ALL workers, the middle class and the poor in this state.

Read on, if you haven't finished vomiting by the sixth paragraph . . .

1. It's the Pee Dee, what the fuck else
do you expect? The good news is that most people stopped paying attention to their stupid endorsements after their ridiculous waffling in the '04 presidential election, and even fewer people actually take their stupid endorsements seriously. Most people know the Pee Dee's head is up the ass of the Bush pukes. Thank God I don't have to look at that as my hometown paper anymore, the Rapid City Journal is actually an improvement!

2. Where did Brown's wife work?
I'm from SW Ohio, but I seem to remember something about her working for the PD?

Am I wrong?

4. you are correct, Connie Schultz was a columnist for the PD
on a leave of absence (I believe).

While I am not suggesting the PD should endorse a candidate, simply
for the sake of endorsing...it is a case of damned if you do and
damned if you dont.

Connie is/was on their staff, if they endorse Sherrod, the repukes would say
"what do you expect", "why am I not surprised", ...

Liberals dont think much of PD's endorsement of Dewine...

If I were them, I would have said here are the candidate positions, we are too
close to this race so we wont endorse.

5. The more damning endorsement is the one by the Beacon Journal
and, unfortunately, on the trade issue, they are right.

I think Sherrod Brown is a political genius and studies/knows his stuff. I wish he would be our President someday, I think he is that bright and adaptable. I think his empathy for the plight of Labor has made him a bit one-sided, not that I don't understand their point of view.

8. Insane.
I expected it from the Cincinnati Enquirer, but the PD??!!!??

Did they endorse Blackwell, too, like the Enquirer/Fishwrap did?

9. Not sure about their governor endorsement.
But I'm guessing it won't be Wackwell. He's too much of a pistachio bag even for Repukes.

The PD cares shit about their subscribers . . . only about their corporate puppetmasters. Never mind that 11% of all Ohio jobs lost during BewshCo's reign of terr were in Cuyahoga County, much thanks to the zero-sum trade policies DeSwine supported.

11. PD won't endorse Blackwell
for a number of reasons.

- Blackwell is so crazy that most repukes are terrified of him...

- Blackwell wants to privatize the turnpike, it runs a few miles south of cleveland, many jobs in the area depend on it

- Unlike the cincy area where blackwell got his education etc etc, he has no history up here...

- Other than the fact that he screwed dem voters here.

- Okay I am tired and rambling.

12. Update: PD Endorses Strickland
http://www.cleveland.com/editorials/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/opinion/11602102007140.xml&coll=2

This is from like, October 8th. Must have missed that one.

I'm still fuming about their endorsement of Rubber Stamp DeWine. He's a wonky little Howdy Doody Elf who's pals with the Cabal and kowtows to every corporate and elite need. Has the Blame Dealer forgotten where they're located? This is heavily blue Cuyahoga County, not Suth'un Duh-HIGH-ah, where they fall for the Bewshit and keep falling for it.

So once again:

"Oh, man Dub, that was great! My mouth was open on that one . . ."

Howdy Doody.

10. That's just wack...
...even the obnoxiously (pro-business) Republican Ohio Society of CPA's endorsed Sherrod Brown.

13. With the Corporatism becoming so vulgar
these days, I don't believe many people actually care about Newspaper Endorsements...why? They're just mouthpieces for the wealthy, corporate owners. So, of course, they endorse the rich repugnant...duh.

Ohio citizens have been soooooo burned by this repugnant administration...we've been robbed blind by all of this damn corruption. And everyday people KNOW it.

Ohio is going BLUE! And we're going to solve the problems that these asshole repugnants have created.
