This sounds like a lot of fun to celebrate a Durham Institution. :D

1. I thought the Regulator Bookshop burned down a few years ago.
I don't get up to Durham very often, I must say, but that's what I was thinking.

8. Wallace Kuralt.
A really talented guy and a great friend. I really miss our rambling talks about everything, and I really mean everything.

I particularly miss Wallace this time of year.

3. Whatever you do, don't go to Satisfaction (ptooey!) after.
Rufus (new owner, aka "Staton") is rabidly red. Bunches of us former regulars have moved on to bluer pastures (like Dain's on 9th St.).

4. That's good to know
We've had a coulple of NC DU meetups there in the past.

We've also enjoyed Devine's and The James Joyce in that neck of the woods.

...guess we won't be doing THAT again (ie: we'll pick another place).

EDIT: Dain's Place is very nice. I've only been once but it's smoke-free (unusual for a good beer place) and nice atmosphere.

6. The cafe
hasn't been open in quite a while. At least, it's never open when I'm there, usually late afternoon, evening.
