Sussex County Republicans won’t intimidate Wolfe supporters

Wolfe Headquarters, Ridgewood, NJ – On Sunday, September 26, the Wolfe for Congress campaign will be opening its “Wolfe West” office in Hackettstown. “We’ll be opening the doors at 10AM,” said Erik Anderson, Wolfe supporter and Independence resident. “Anne will be cutting the ribbon,” said Anderson. The Wolfe campaign has made plans to serve breakfast. Families are welcome to drop by. “We’ll be canvassing all day,” Anderson added. Wolfe is running for Congress against incumbent Scott Garrett in New Jersey’s 5th Congressional District. The district encompasses all or part of four counties; Bergen, Passaic, Sussex, and Warren.

“Wolfe West” is opening not a moment too soon, according to a member of the Sussex County Retired Educators. Wolfe spoke on September 20th in Lafayette at a luncheon meeting of the group. “There’s a lot of support for Anne Wolfe in Warren and Sussex counties. But there’s also a culture of fear here,” the senior said. “It seems to have developed more teeth during this campaign period.” Currently most local offices in both Warren and Sussex counties are held by Republicans. “I’m a supporter of the Wolfe campaign,” the senior continued. “I’ve spoken to people I know who are too and they’re afraid to show any visible sign of their support, even a bumper sticker on their car. Some people have been led to believe that should they show their support for Anne Wolfe, they’re in danger of losing their jobs.” The senior would not give his name.

“Of course he wouldn’t give his name,” said Wolfe. “Wouldn’t you want to remain anonymous if you were threatened with loss of livelihood? It’s not exactly the American way, is it? If there are current office holders, and I speak specifically of those in Sussex County, who are even indirectly intimidating residents, they need to stop.”

“We’ve opened our office in Hackettstown and we want to let the people in Warren and Sussex counties know the Anne Wolfe campaign is firing on all cylinders,” said Christine Mosier, Wolfe’s campaign manager. “And unlike Ms. Wolfe’s opponent, she intends to represent all the people of the 5th District, everyone in all four counties.”

Anne Wolfe is a moderate Democrat who is fiscally conservative, believes in a woman’s right to choose, quality public education, better access to healthcare and smart growth. “Wolfe West” is located at 127 Maple Avenue, Hackettstown.
