Progressive Pages- Need your feedback!
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2587076&mesg_id=2587076&page=

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local NH businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

5. Also, here's link to Fundrace Neighbor Search. You can search by
name or zip code. it lists who donated what and where they work. This should help.

Do we know what Partridge Farm is? A working farm for produce or livestock? A restaurant? A B n B?

18. Attaboys go to...
Rather than beat up on businesses owned by Republicans that probably employ dems, I'd rather give credit to those who stood up for Democratic candidates. You know, the whole honey v. vinegar thing...

"Attaboys" in Manchester go to:

Uptown Tavern (owner is big donor to Lieberman, Bob Bruce, others)
Raxx Billiards (donated function room to Young Dems for GOTV event)
Grand Slam Pizzaria
Times Square Pizza and Subs
Breezeway Pub
The Merrimack Restaurant
The Athens Restaurant
Nicky D's Trattoria (Nick's a Repubby, but helped out some local Dems)

19. Thanks, FND.
If the Repugs that employ Dems make enough, they contribute it to assholes and asshole causes. It could be $500, it could be $25,000. It all hurts us in the long run.

If we hurt them financially, they'll be forced to cut back, but most likely on the amounts they contribute to candidates.

They have to keep their business afloat, so they'll cut back as little as possible there.

Just an observation.

10. By the way, the UPS Store in Plaistow needs an extra special
bad guy rating. I have a PO box there and thus go every day, and am now getting hassled by one of the guys whose salary I help pay. My box rental ends in the spring and I will not be renewing. But they deserve a special place in hell.

Just because you're a Dem?

I wouldn't renew either, the bastards. Is there an address for this place?

14. Yes the site is Fabulous. I'd think about charging a fee for membership
cuz the freepers will be using it too, and you should make them pay as well as us for all your hard work.

Here's the info on the UPS Store:

Ups Store
37 Plaistow Road Unit 7, Plaistow, NH 03865
(603) 382-0444
http://www.theupsstore.com

They have taken to calling me Mrs. Kerry since the election, which I do not consider an insult but it is such a touchy subject just now that it is pissing me off. I've started to make cell phone calls when I go in so I don't have to talk to them anymore, which I never do cuz it's so rude. I've been using them since the spring and am one of those annoying perky people and blond so obviously they don't know what a vengeful BITCH I can be. Not looking forward to the day I finally lose it and start screaming. Sorry for the rant.

15. Hey it happens.
FWIW, I did not know that Sapph was going to put the DB online for anyone to view. I'd rather have a paper book to sell online and make available at local progrssive merchants.

The online thing could be a little weird; I don't know how comfortable I am with it yet. And if we charge for it online no one will use it. There's plenty of free information online.

I thought it would be good to have an end all and be all book for everything. We'll see.

Rants are cool. I'm not blonde, but I am perky. Folks often underestimate me as well. Although I've picked up much more of a brooding persona the last few months.

16. Actually what if you could tie in with DU for paid memberships. Then
you'd also get an idea of who is using it, IE freepers.

But I want to make it for more widespread. I'll keep thinking.
