2. Wonder if it's tied to the Victory Fellowship Church here in Delaware
Edited on Mon Sep-26-05 03:31 PM by woodsprite
They used to bring vanloads of their congregation into our neighborhood to canvas houses. I lived in essentially a "little Italy" section of historic New Castle - alot of catholics. I felt like I was held prisoner in my own home. We had one of the longer properties on the street and had a few extra parking spaces. They would always park in front of our house. We didn't dare go out until they left.

Edited to add - they always have some type of program going on there and at xmas, they get you into their place for a HUGE xmas light and nativity display. I am not kidding - and they're right across the road from Walmart.

6. I just got my WWFSMD shirt in the mail today!
Fit's perfectly and I can't wait to wear it in public. I'm considering printing out the Wikipedia definition of his Pastaness rather than trying to explain the entire story to people who ask "what the hell is that"? It would be much easier and reading the entire definition would give them a better understanding of this new and vibrant religion. Ramen!

4. I believe
that church is an offshoot of Victory Christian Ceter in Tulsa, JOklahoma - one of the local mega churches with over 10,000 or so members (they have had about that many members for the last 20 or so years). They have a fellowship of ministries and have literally started churches all over the world. And, yes, they too are frickin fundie morans. See their website at: www.victorytulsa.org

12. I know
that before the '04 election that their asshat pastor told his congregation to vote based on the issues of abortion, gay marriage and freedom of religious expression.

They also supported the creation exhibit at the Tulsa zoo - an effort that I understand they have not abandoned. Sunday before last their evening service was on the validity of creation science and the young earth theory. During that service they trotted out the artist and his rendering of that proposed creation science exhibit.

I also know that their asshat pastor thinks it is wrong to kiss someone of the opposite sex before marriage (guess they are not into self-control?). Interesting if you know much of the history of teen pregnancy in that congregation.

They are very well connected politically and financially here in this little town. Both the mayor and district attorney as well as a number of educators and business people are known to attend their services.

They webcast their services. I will occassionally listen in if I have reason to think they are going to be discussing political issues. I like to know what they are shoveling so I can prepare ahead of time to debunk their crap when some frickin fundie decides to "enlighten" me.

13. in 2000 campaign I met a black dem woman member
she was angry about their repub politicking

she said she just told her black friends there just to ignore the church's ignorant politics, she and her friends knew whose side God is on

BTW, it's interesting how Carleton Pearson of Higher Dimensions is now treated as if he never existed.....b/c of his 'inclusive Jesus' theology....and probably b/c he got too 'uppity' for a black man

14. Their asshat pastor
has preached messages specifically directed at those in the congregation who don't agree with his repub politicking. He has told them not to take offense because, well, because that is forbidden by Scripture. Sounds a bit abusive to me.

I say good for that woman. Though I have to wonder if she is still there after five years of increasing repub activism by the pastor.

Interesting isn't it that asshat pastor Daugherty at Victory and Carleton Pearson are both ORU grads. They are light years apart.

gonna barn fer all etarnity in a barnin' lake of far.

Sorry, I choose the lake of my own free will. Any god who would condemn non-christians and non-babtizified people to eternal hellfire is not someone I particularly like or want to get close to.

9. Damn! Now I have to BOYCOTT the Victory Christian Church!
And just my luck, too. I've been ordering all my condoms and sex toys from them -- I came for the low, low prices, but I stayed for the prompt, discreet, and courteous service.

NOW what will I do?

16. My old boss used to go to that church and I've met the Pastor of that
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 11:47 AM by Darkhawk32
church on a few occasions.

I was working at a nearby restaurant and when he (the pastor) and his family would come in, they'd expect free food and they'd come in a few times a week at least. Pretty much a freeloader.

Plus, his sermons are on a local community television station on Sundays and let me tell you, he looks like a spaz that paces and fidgets.

One of his statements (paraphrased but damn close)...

"If I meet someone that refuses to accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, I really just want to hit them. To beat them up."

A real whackjob.
