Wetterling outraises Kennedy by $100,000
DFL challenger Patty Wetterling out-raised Rep. Mark Kennedy by $100,000 in the last reporting period, but still trails the Republican incumbent overall, new Federal Election Commission reports show.

In the period covering July 1 to Aug. 25, Wetterling raised $335,000 to Kennedy's $235,000.

Link. Nice to see we're making Kennedy put up a fight.

2. Encouraging
If races like hers break Dem at the end we could retake the house.

I'm also hoping that Jim Leach loses in IA which is a possibility.

4. Related? She's the mother...
...and her fame from that and her subsequent work for children is the reason she is running. IIRC, a poll showed her with HIGHER NAME ID than the incumbant.

6. I'm from Wisconsin and I remember the Jacop Wetterling case
but we don't hear about your races here so I didn't know someone with that name was running for anything. Good luck to her.

7. My wife was attending St. Ben's then....
...and she has a few theories as to what happened. BTW, St. Ben's is the sister college of St. John's, and both schools are very near where Jacob disappeared.

As a matter of fact, she (and some classmates) were in Berlin at the time the wall came down, and they wrote "Jacob's Hope" on it before it totally came down.

At this year's state convention, we had the chance to meet and talk with Patty, and my wife shared her stories and recollections of that tragic time. Patty is an amazing woman, and will make an excellent representative for her district-- much better than the incumbent, who is little more than a rubber stamp for the extremist Bush-Cheney agenda.
