Who is still angry about the loss of WQRS
Yeah, Michigan needed another alternative rock station. So how come they haven't been able to peg down one stupid format that works since they screwed over Classical music in Detroit? :grr:

1. Yo. I was listening when the "change" happened.
'QRS finished with the climactic aria from "Madame Butterfly." The new station started immediately in with Marilyn Manson's "Animal."

If you're interested, there's an online radio station that featured some of the DJs from WQRS:

http://www.classicalmusicdetroit.com

now IT's changed to:

http://www.classicalmusicamerica.com/

Sorry, don't know if Goggin, Gloff, McElroy, et al, are still there.

2. Sort of
But it was getting pretty mediocre near the end. I had already made the switch to CBC. But it was nice to have the option of listening to QRS. Now we dont have tht option.

4. I'm still mad about WUOM ditching its classical and jazz programming
It's become a boring talk station with almost no local content.

5. No kidding...
I'm an alternative rock lover, but I miss my classical too! If you're gonna take THE classical station off the air, you should at least have something worth listening to as a replacement. :-(

The good news is that classical music CDs are now my #1 purchase, since I can no longer hear it on the public airwaves. Good and bad, I suppose...
