My 6 point solution to Michigan's woes
Implement a hydrogen highway infrastructure (ala California)
but statewide, a massive scale, say %5 per annum of highways.
Lansing & Detroit out wards, following the major EW &
NS corridors.

1. The technology exists, why not will it into reality?
2. People are put to work immediately, filling a real nee
3. Bailout leverage could mandate auto industry compliance.
4. In what better state is there to create "green"
corridors!!!
5. In the ideal world its something that SHOULD be old hat by
now.
6. Who is needier! What better time is there than now?

Poor Michigan can't seem to catch a break.

I have heard that there are a disproportionate number of
retired astronauts living in the great lakes region, any truth
to that? (I can see why...)

1. Hi Deb!
Great to see you Bunky! :hi:

Great plan BTW and I think it fits nicely with what Granhom has been promoting. On the retired astronauts thing, I read in the wretched eagle a couple/few years back, one of those astronauts said he could see the area from space and knew he wanted to live here someday. I guess when you get a bird's eye view of the world you can pick the prettiest place.

:-)

Call me, let's do cocktails and cook up a scheme or two with that new chair of yours!

Julie (Bunky) haha

2. Hey, Julie
You coming to state convention on February 21 at Cobo? If you do, we really do need to meet this time.

So, the astronauts were like Palin? They could see Michigan from their spaceships!

3. Hi Sharon!
Oh I don't think I'll be going. After 6 years of full time unpaid work in politics I find I now have to really scramble to get it together (with my divorce final this past year and all). No more politics for me for a while. Sad though, my county party had a lame year and my cong. dist. has never been less effective. Still, I must resist and focus on my own problems.

Much to celebrate though, from winning the WH to some of our state races (still thrilled with Justice Hathaway's win!), the next convention should be a pretty exciting event. Enjoy!

:hi:

4. Sorry you won't be there and that you're taking a break,
but I understand. I'm surprised you're stepping back so much -- you were so involved and so good at it. I, too, am thrilled about Hathaway. It will be nice to have a court we can trust to do the right thing and not be such shills for corporations. Maybe we can get that drug-company-friendly ruling overturned at some point.

Before you know it, we'll be gearing up for 2010. Not sure what race I might be working on for the mid-terms. I guess I'll have to wait and see who's going to be running for what. If nothing else comes up, I'll probably volunteer for the governor's race, which will most likely be John Cherry.

5. I live for the day I hear the news
Grand Traverse has been redistricted out of the wretched 4th district! Maybe after that I will jump back in but I doubt it. ;-)
