Jordan's Furniture warranty ripoff
Our 15 month old toddler threw up on our 18 month old couch from Jordan's. We had the 'Stainguard' warranty. I called them, and followed their recommendations for cleaning...which didn't work. The cushion is still sort of, well, crusty, and it reeks. Their response? No 'visible stain', no coverage! Those bastards! If we had just left it there, they would have had to come and clean it under the warranty.

This is really at odds with their rep as a place with good customer service. They've managed to pocket extra profits from us with their warranty sale, but it's the last sale they'll ever, EVER get from us.

1. Call the Stainguard people

Stainguard should honor the warranty.

And please try and cut Jordan's some slack.

They have excellent benefits, a great diversity policy, and are 100% Democrat donors.

Meanwhile, if you haven't tried it already, go to the pet store and get that bacterial "Outright Pet Odor Eliminator."

Try to call as far up the chain of command at Jordan's as you can get. I believe that Gordon and Elliot have their office at the Avon, Mass. store.

Last resort: Bring the vomit pillow to Jordan's and try to exchange it. If they won't take it, carry it around the store with you and be careful not to accidentally exchange it with a cushion from one of the display models.

2. I like this last option - better than I like their commercials, anyway.

3. Thanks for the suggestions
I will probably be on the phone with the Avon store later today then... I understand that they treat their employees well and are well regarded, and in fact that's a prime reason why I shopped there. For the company to turn around and screw us on a warranty is quite infuriating. Their politics don't excuse that.

Depending on how things go, I might be sending off letters to the BBB and the consumer affairs division of the attorney general's office later this week.

4. Problem resolved
My wife's email to them got the message through loud and clear...they are replacing the outer cover to the cushion, which is fine by us.

5. Of ALL the furniture companies....
...they have the BEST commercials. I hate the Bob's commercials with a passion, followed by Bernie and Phyl.

But I don't buy furniture new. I use the same crap that has been in the family for generations, and if anything breaks, I get it repaired....I call them antiques, though some might classify it as 'junque.' Whatever--works for me!
