Steele Must Be Getting Desperate
He just had his two sons on a commercial, talking about what a dork he was about his music and how he can't work a computer. "But he's a straight shooter, and some folks might not like that."

Clever ad, but I can smell desperation when they start using their kids in ads.

1. And the ad using his sister!
The one with MS who says her brother is FOR stem cell research!! What she doesn't say is he's only for ADULT stem cell research...not embryonic. VERY misleading ad.

2. Steele has a great ad agency.
I'm worried, quite frankly. Using his sister was pretty strong, too. They are well-made ads.

The most devestating attack on Steele that I've seen was the editorial from the Washington Post. I wish Cardin ads were that effective.

3. Its as if he is trying to sell his personality not his stance on the issues.
I find him incredibly annoying. I can't imagine the ads are effective.

5. Style vs. Substance
Unfortunately, a LOT of people tend to go for style rather than substance.

6. You're right...
talking to a friend of mine today...she gave me the whole song and dance about how Steele IS for stem cell research because she saw the ad with his sister. She doesn't know the difference between Adult and Embryonic stem cell research so that ad worked on her. So deliberately misleading it just sickens me!

7. That ad has helped me change a few minds.

I let go of the stem cell research question and zeroed in on the how mean old Cardin took advantage of a person with a disease...first I point out that Fox volunteered and does ads for both parties as long as the candidate supports embryonic stem cell research. Then I point out how Steele's sister says Cardin is taking advantage of Fox and ask them how much lower can you go than to use a sister with an awful disease to try to win a political campaign. If she volunteered then no different than Fox, if Cardin used someone then so did Steele on he dragged in family. It has worked wonders every single time.

Edited to add I live very close to PA and we get both Balto and Philly channels so most people here saw Fox's ads supporting Arlen Spector. Also most people know Fox has fought very hard for stem cell research.

9. Steele is all style in his ads because he's a Bushbot.
He's an empty suit just like Bush.
