Obama outspends McCain in 'potential' swing states except Maine

If you go to the article at the link, it lists about 17 states and the totals spent by each campaign for oct-7 through 13. If you go down the list, Obama is outspending McCain, usually by a hefty margin. All except Maine, where McCain is outspending Obama 297k to 75k.

A) this means we are no longer considered critically important to Obama. They feel they can risk the loss of one electoral vote (2nd district) here in Maine. While they are most certainly correct in this, I would frankly be pissed if we end up doing an electoral vote split like that. The One patch of the Northeast to go embarrassingly red. :(
B) this low amount of spending is almost certainly helping Susan Collins. The contest between Obama and McCain helps bring the whole Democrat policies vs Republican policies to the forefront, something Tom is not doing.

Thoughts?

1. Not certain about the origins of the stat BUT

WASHINGTON - The Republican National Committee is halting presidential ads in Wisconsin and Maine, turning much of its attention to usually Republican states where GOP nominee John McCain shows signs of faltering.

The party's independent ad operation is doubling its budget to about $10 million and focusing on crucial states such as Colorado, Missouri, Indiana and Virginia where Democrat Barack Obama has established a foothold, according to a Republican strategist familiar with presidential ad placements.

Florida and North Carolina have also been in the RNC ad mix. Pennsylvania is the only Democratic leaning swing state apparently left in the party's ad campaign.

I understand that the point spread is now 7 points (in O's favor) for the 2nd CD and double digits for the 1st.

3. That McCain figure might be for pre-buys that they've cancelled
I can't imagine they are outspending Obama.
