Cedar Valley Democrats Meetup: Big turnout
Bruce Braley and his team staffed this event and hooked up a conference call from DNC Executive Director Tom McMahon (I think that's his name) and had a power point on the DNC's 50 State Strategy. More than 20 people showed up. Everyone was geared up for next fall's elections. Rep. Kressig was present and said the GOP is targeting him. The Democrats' message, or lack thereof, was discussed but people seemed somewhat satisfied with holding out while the Bush falls and falls. And, supposedly Willard Jenkins isn't running for reelection, yes! This was a good event and the emphasis placed on the grassroots in the 50 State Strategy will hopefully start taking shape.

The DNC sent out an email to what I assume is their listserve about these 11/15 local meetups.

4. What? Willard isn't going to run???
Did he finally realize that he doesn't live in the District he represents??? Man, I know JUST who I want to see in that seat!!!

Kressig has done a good job (he's my rep) I understand why the GOP wants it - Dennis made a mess of a District that the GOP worked hard to win (Witt held that seat for a decade with the help of the college - still don't know how a republican even won in 2002).

Sounds like it was a good Meet-up, how did Braley do?

5. If anyone hears about the next one...
I didn't hear about this one (I don't think).

If anyone gets a reminder email for the next one, please post it here so we can all know about it. Maybe one of these could serve as our long-delayed meet up?

6. before I forget
I'll be sure to send out a heads up next time I hear about something going on.

Braley was upbeat and articulate, as usual. Despite having the opportunity he didn't deliver stump speech, that may have undermined the event. I wish I could have insider information because I'm sure there's some good stuff. The campaign in embarking on signature collecting so that they can get on the ballot, anyone want to help?

7. You'll get most of your signatures at caucus
otherwise I've seen people outside grocery stores and malls (where they let you go) gathering signatures.
