3. I'll do it !!!!!!!

Disregard that I just went and checked I got another 5 years until I can run for senate. So in 2012 there's no way Lugar going to be running for senate at 80 years old. So it's a wide open race.

6. If I had the money, I'd do it in a heartbeat!
Just turned 30 last summer, and I absolutely despise Prick Loogie. Problem is I'm way below the poverty level. No way could I afford to run an effective campaign. :(

7. The Indiana Democratic Party should finance your campaign
I am sure that you will be able to raise funds from all of us that are tired of Lugar.

4. Folks out there are concerned...
as secretary for a township Democrat Club, I have gotten 3 unrelated phone calls in the past two weeks wanting to know who we're running against Lugar. As no one has stepped up to the plate, I am forced to refer them to the state party with their questions.
If the state party handles their calls like they do mine, these folks will never hear back from the party. What a sad, sad bunch in charge...

5. If push comes to shove, we can run a Socialist as a Democrat
against Lugar, and I just know such a man.

8. or a Green
it's important to run somebody in every election. Even if we don't win, it shows we give a shit.

9. I said basically the same thing to my county chairman,
he said the state Democratic Party is not planning to run anyone against Lugar. I agree with you, it just isn't right. How can everyone be so sure about what will happen between now and November? The Republican corrupt cabal could make everybody so sick of them they would vote in an unknown just for the change. Mitch's popularity is waning since he wants to give away the toll road.

10. We should agree on a candidate to run against Lugar
and put his/her name on the Democratic primary ballot. The candidate can be of any political affiliation, as long as it is a progressive one (and that means antiwar).

11. I would love a write in or something
I wish someone would take him on. I read some articles in the courier journal a couple of months ago about a Iraq vet wanting to run against hime but then I heard nothing else.
I think the deadline is soon to file to run against him.
I would gladly support a green party candidate.

12. 3rd party filing deadline is July 17th at noon
The only other deadline this pdf lists is the primary deadline, which is in 2 weeks (noon on 2-17).

14. I'm all for trying to beat the guy
but unless a really top-tier name steps up, I think the state party's money is better spent in the House races. We can definetly pick up 2, maybe even 3, GOP-held seats from some of the craziest right-wingers in Congress, taking control of the state congressional delegation for the first time since '94.

I think that is a much more realistic goal than trying to beat a six-term incumbent who won his last race with 67% of the vote.

16. Guys, I think it's too late...
Today was your filing deadline. No Democratic challenger to face Lugar in November.
