Marc Maron will play Aurora on Saturday, February 4th!
Show some love and turn out next month when Marc Maron brings the funny to Aurora's Paramount Theater.

Maybe Marc will aim his scathing wit at the Neocon Death Cult and the Christofascist Zombie Brigade. Or maybe he'll obsess about his wife, his cats and his eating disorder. Either way it will be a great show in a great venue: the Paramount Theater, a 1930s Art Deco jewelbox restored to its original splendor. You've never been? Go!

Aurora is a quick trip from Chicago via car or Metra's Burlington Northern line out of Union Station. And it's easy to reach by anyone who can find his way to I-88. The Paramount is downtown on the Fox River, blocks from the train station and practically a straight line down Rte 31 off I-88.

3. I spent a fair chunk of my childhood there
The Paramount opened in the 30s when my dad was a kid who used to sneak in the side door to catch Saturday matinees. By the 60s the decor was dingy and faded, but to me it was magnificent - especially that gorgeous blue ceiling light in the auditorium, which was perfect to lean back and stare at if the movie got boring. I'm fond of shabby old things so I didn't think I'd like the restoration, but they really did an exquisite job. It is a great place to see any kind of show.

5. Yes, Fantasia
I wuz trippin' when I saw it, so there's the difference in our ages.

My mom's family is from Jo Daviess County so I'm familiar with the Galena-Aurora trip. Haven't done it in quite some time, but from what I remember the Rte 20 leg is pretty pokey. It is a fur piece to come, after driving from Chicago. :( Well, Happy Anniversary!

so it might be fun to spend the weekend, "out home" i mostly go to see folks, get back in the car and go home. so it might be fun to hang. had been planning on doing this in galena. we did that last year, and stayed in a crazy little b&b. can't get in there this time, tho. soo...
well, if you were that old when you saw fantasia, maybe you knew one of my sisters. where did you go to school?
