Lingle got nearly half her $$$ from the mainland
glaring enough that even the usually staunchly repuke Star-Bulletin called her on it.

http://starbulletin.com/2006/01/31/news/story01.html

According to figures filed with the state Campaign Spending Commission yesterday, Lingle raised $1.2 million in that period, and $550,434 of that amount came from out of state. Lingle raised $195,504 in California during that time -- the most out-of-state donations, the figures show.

Miriam Hellreich, Lingle's campaign spokeswoman, acknowledged that more than 45 percent of the money raised came from the mainland, but noted that the majority of Lingle's donors are from Hawaii -- 79 percent....

Lingle has said she was trying to raise as much mainland money as possible before a new state law took effect Jan. 1, limiting those amounts to 20 percent overall in any reporting period. The law was approved by the Legislature last year....

Lingle held 33 fundraisers in 2005. Since becoming governor, she has held 17 mainland fundraisers, with ticket prices ranging from $500 to $6,000 each.

So now we know how to turn a blue state red -- flood it with lots of green. :puke: Quick, name another governor, who is not running for President, who has held 17 out-of-state fundraisers.

Nice spin by Hellreich (her real name!). What that actually means is that Gov. Fish-face has been hitting up the big mainland donors for the maximum. These are people whose only interest in Hawai'i is sipping a mai tai at the Royal Hawaiian on their anniversary. They gave to her because the RNC told them to, because they see us as ripe for the picking.

See? This is why no one (*cough*Ed Case*cough*) wants to run against her. They're not afraid of her so much as they are of that half-mill mainland slush fund that there'd be no way for them to match. :puke:

3. Alas, I am firmly anchored to the cubicle
until 5. Ironically, my only exposure to this worthy endeavor may well come when and if it interferes with my already overlong evening commute. :eyes:

Hey, at least King Dumbass** won't be on every channel in prime time like on the mainland. Lucky we live Hawai'i!
