Ideas For Compromise On Delegates
This is a bad situation. The DNC is acting as if discipline matters more than voters. The Fla Dems are acting as if they matter more than rules and fairness. Quite frankly, I trust neither of them.

The DNC has given the Florida Democratic Party 30 days to come up with an acceptable solution. They want Florida to have a caucus. A non binding primary followed by a later caucus may be the best of both worlds, especially if the DNC offers to pay for the costs and help organize our caucus. We'd get the media attention of a "straw poll" primary. A late caucus will give us a say in who is our nominee - and it would give it to the grassroots activists - not the people who are hooked by a t.v. ad.

I respectfully ask both of them to bring this decision to the State Democratic Convention on October 26. Let the delegates there vote on it. Let them decide whether to call the DNCs bluff and proceed with our selfish line hopping rogue primary or to cave to the DNC that will take our money but deny us a vote. The party activists will have to work to turn out the vote for municpal races and ballot measures when the primary won't count. The party activists would have to work for a caucus. Let the activists at least, if not all Floridians, have a say in what happens. In the interest of fairness, I am one of those delegages.

Another idea is to fine the Florida Democratic Party, but this could hurt our ability to get out the vote next year.

1. "and it would give it to the grassroots activists"
Why do Democrats hate democracy? What is it about the "unwashed masses" actually voting and choosing their leaders that you find repugnant?

When did the US turn into China?

2. I Have Nothing Against The "Masses"
I do have something against the people who do nothing for democracy and expect it to just happen. The people who work for it should have more say than people who don't really give a crap.

Anyway, as things currently stand, Florida will have no delegates to the convention, meaning none of us get a vote.

Why does the DNC hate democracy? When did Florida turn into Puerto Rico?

answer: when Florida defied DNC rules and moved their primary leading to sanctions by the DNC

(okay, not always, but for a very long time)
If some one doesn't show up to the polls and doesn't bother to vote, they have given up their right for any influence on the outcome.

If we do not go out and educate voters and voters do not make an attempt to educate themselves, we are all ceding power to those who run big media campaigns. I would rather power be with grassroots activists than with FoxNoise and its sheeple.

I am merely pointing out the way things are.
