NY Times endorses Sullivan over Simmons
Beginning of the email I got just now:

Today, America's newspaper of record, The New York Times, joined Connecticut's newspaper of record, The Hartford Courant, in endorsing Jim's candidacy for Congress.

The Times said, "voters had a right to wonder about claim of being a House moderate." They praised Jim for his "refreshingly forthright manner" and because he "knows the pulse of the district." They warned that because Simmons has been "one of the biggest beneficiaries of Tom DeLay's political action committee.he would return to Congress in the political debt of one of the most reactionary partisans in Washington."

In short, the Times said what we have been saying for ten months: Mr. Simmons can call himself a moderate all he wants, but it doesn't make it so. We need a congressman who is "refreshingly forthright." We need a congressman who "knows the pulse of the district." We need Jim Sullivan in the halls of Congress.

We also need your help! This e-mail is going to the 1,562 donors who have been so good to us already. We are asking you to give just $25 today to help us make our final pitch on television this coming weekend. If each of you gives just $25, we will have the funds we need to win this race one week from today.
