Arnold Breaks Law: Illegal Mail, Fake Union Bug
Edited on Fri Oct-21-05 02:16 AM by Carla in Ca
cross-posted from <http://www.betterca.com/arnold_breaks_law_illegal_mail>

The California Recovery Team (CRT) has been violating the law by sending out campaign mail that illegally uses discounted non-profit postage and displays a fraudulent union bug. Both actions are violations of federal law. We have requested an investigation by the USPS and announced possible legal action unless they cease their activities.

From our attorney Lance Olson:

CRT's use of a non-profit permit to get cut-rate discounts on their blatantly political mailing is outrageous. This permit was either unlawfully issued or is being unlawfully used. Only organizations that satisfy special standards and have received official authorization from the USPS may mail items using the Nonprofit Standard Mail rate.

snip...

A fake union bug on the Proposition 75 mailer identifies the piece as being printed by an Allied union shop in Los Angeles ("9"), BUT NO SUCH PRINTER EXISTS. (emphasis mine)

MORE, read the whole thing and see a copy of the print stamp. This is potentially explosive since it deals with a federal branch of the government!

1. Legally, I imagine they'll be in more trouble because. . .
of the use of a non-profit indicia -- that's stealing from the post office -- while politically they'll be in far greater trouble because of their fraudulent use of the union bug. What a cluster!

I've worked in printing over 30 years -- never screwed with either the post office or the unions. It's akin to taking the easy way to making money, which in the print business is to make money -- it's all fun and games until the Secret Service wants to talk with you. Now, not only will the Prop 75 people be in trouble with a host of officials, but the printer they used will be in serious hurt for use of the union bug, while the mail house that processed the pieces will have to account to the one group that can put them out of the business -- the post office.

Ah, yes. Couldn't happen to a more deserving group -- they want to screw us but only succeeded in screwing themselves.

2. It would be nice if the LA Times covered this
The only story on Arnold was that his announcement
to run for re-election has poured more money into
his coffers.

3. Get it on TV, shout from the roof tops
This is the time to go after the Gropenator and his corporate cronies.
