Guns-in-bar measure advances in House - AZ (posted in GD also)
I posted this in the GD forum but it also needs to be here...

http://www.tucsoncitizen.com/index.php?page=local&story...

PHOENIX - The Arizona House voted yesterday to let people take guns into bars and restaurants if the establishments don't deny them permission and if the bearers aren't drinking alcohol.
Arizona now bans possession of firearms in bars and restaurants that sell alcohol.

Supporters say current law deprives law-abiding citizens of the means to protect themselves and others and subjects their guns to the risk of theft if they're left in vehicles parked outside bars or restaurants.

Critics said the bill (SB1363) could lead to confrontations in bars and increases in insurance premiums for the businesses.

<snip>

Hopefully Gov. Napolitano will veto this one. F*ing crazy bill.

1. To protect myself
I am going to investigate how to obtain a gun. I'll take lessons, whatever, no one is going to use a gun against me and get away with it. Off to the shooting range! Never, thought I would say this because I've always been against guns. Guess Arizona is returning to the Wild Wild West. I hate guns, best get one though!

2. We have 2 in the house but ...
they are only taken by vehicle to a place where we target shoot to stay comfortable handling them. Never strapped on the side and shown in public.

I am not against guns, they do have their place in society, but in a bar??? That's insane!

3. I don't go to bars
just thinking of having one in my house. My son keeps tellling me since I live by myself I should have a gun. Geez, what is happening in this world?

No way I want to go out to eat anymore for fear that some wingnut is going to be angry over a conversation?

4. I work in a restaurant that has a bar attached......
even tho it is in a retirement community. Who knows when a patron will get a bug up his/her ass and start something then pull out a gun?

The personal ones we have are for protection. My s/o is gone a lot on business, so I am here by myself for most of the work week.
