7. Doubts

I have had doubts about whether McCain really respected the Offices of the Presidency and Vice-Presidency, or (for that matter) the needs of our country; his selection of Sarah Palin to be his running mate has solidified those doubts. When I first heard her give a speech when she was running for Governor, I asked my seat-mate whether she was running for President of the Junior class, or Vice-President of the Senior class. The way she's been running the Governor's Office leads me to believe it was VP for the Seniors. What a sick joke. If McCain prevails in November, I fear for our country's future.

6. You about summed it up

As another Alaskan, I can't believe he picked her. I am somewhat excited as it is the first VP nominee I have ever met and talked to, the first one who's husband and I have gotten into an argument.

Palin is the prom queen. She ran against the most unpopular governor this state has ever seen, a seriously corrupt bastard who's chief of staff has already plead guilty to taking bribes for his campaign. Her entire platform was, "I'll do what Alaskans want." and "I'll be open and transparent." Literally that was all she said in the campaign, but she was a republican in a pretty red state, she was seen as an outsider standing up to what we all knew was a very corrupt state.

She got into office and really hasn't done a whole lot. She tried to use her influence to get her ex-brother in law fired from his job as an Alaska State Trooper, and as a result there is a special investigator appointed by the state legislature working on the case.

Most people I know realize now that she is a small town mayor who lucked her way into the governors job. She is hardly able to handle the responsibilities that go along with governing one of the smallest (population wise) states in the nation, there is no way I would want her 1 very weak heart beat away from being president.

She is the prom queen, nothing more, and our country can't afford her,

She completely ignores all scientific data regarding the impact of melting ice and polar bear habitat, is a complete dufus on global warming and she pushed hard for Pebble Mine and aeriel wolf hunting.

"Our Guv" is personable, friendly, and like me loves hockey, but that's where I draw the line.
