What Is It Like To Teach In Alaska?

I'm a teacher from Wisconsin. I'll probably retire in about 20 years, but I LOVE Alaska. I would dearly love to get there one day. Wanted to go for our 25th anniversary, but didn't have enough saved up. Maybe next year. How much would it cost, roughly, to go on a two week train-cruise tour of Alaska? Also, I'd love to go to Lake Clark and visit Dick Proenneke's cabin.

1. I can't comment on the train tour...

But my late mother and my brother and sister-in-law all have taught here in Anchorage in the public schools and have really enjoyed it. I believe our district is fairly progressive. We don't get much creationism or ID talk up here. There are enough private religious schools to take care of those folks. We have some language immersion programs here, Japanese, Spanish and Russian, which my 6-year-old grandson is in and really enjoying. Everything is taught in Russian for half the day. Anchorage is a multi-cultural city ... 93 different languages are spoken by students in the district ... so that keeps things interesting.
