Good work Alabama Democrats!

Artur Davis is a pandering little boob.

And totally unelectable in November.

There are consequences, Mr. Davis, to voting against health care.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama's agriculture commissioner overwhelmed a congressman trying to become the first black to win Alabama's Democratic nomination for governor, while four candidates ran a close race for the Republican nomination.

With 58 percent of the precincts reporting, Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks won with 65 percent to U.S. Rep. Artur Davis's 35 percent. Sparks, who is white, had the support of the state's four major black political groups.

1. I voted for Sparks, but...

I don't really think he's any more "electable" than Davis. And Davis is a panderer, but hardly a "boob." In fact, he is a graduate of Harvard, and a very nice man. Here's how groups ranked him on different issues (according to Wikipedia). Not great, but hey!, this is Alabama!

* National Journal
o Economic: 60% Liberal, 40% Conservative
o Social: 64% Liberal, 35% Conservative
o Foreign: 66% Liberal, 33% Conservative
* Americans for Democratic Action: 75
* American Civil Liberties Union: 70
* Chamber of Commerce of the United States: 71
* Christian Coalition: 33
* American Conservative Union: 24
* National Taxpayers Union: 12
* League of Conservation Voters: 64

I've been on Davis for a few issues, but for Alabama that looks pretty good, I think. But he just pandered a few times, and it pissed me off. So I supported Sparks.

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Davis got a job in the Justice Department or something.

I'm not saying it's impossible for Sparks to win, but it's definitely an uphill climb. Same situation Davis would have faced.
