Kerry took COMMAND of the debate last night
He was clear, coherent, strong, smart, respectful, and diplomatic. He stood tall and showed true leadership. Its now painfully obvious which candidate is most fit for command.

People forget that we're not just electing the president of the United States -- we're choosing the leader of the world. The US is responsible for maintaining the international alliances that keep some semblance of order in a chaotic world. Focusing on trivialities like homeliness and "likability" instead of competence and leadership is a grave abrogation of our responsibility to the world community. And it weakens us.

In a time of crisis its imperative that we put forward the best man we have available. bush* was just the wrong man at the wrong time. I am grateful and I think most of the world is grateful that the Democratic party is able to put forward a man with the character and ability of John Kerry.

After watching last night's debate, I am getting the feeling that John Kerry might become one of the best presidents we've ever had!

2. one of the best presidents we've ever had
I've felt this about Kerry for quite a while...the major stumbling block to that will be if we can't give him a Democratic Congress.

3. He really did. I wonder how the media will spin it though.
I definitely agree with you. Kerry dominated. Let's hope the media doesn't whore for Bush again.

5. CNN was trying their hardest last night to whore for Bush
Carlos Watson was inexcusable... David Ensor pointing out minor inaccuracies while ignoring Bush's major whoppers.

4. I agree
I also must say that I was wrong at first and I underestimated Kerry. I think he will make a fine president, if given the chance. See, Chimpy? Admitting mistakes doesn't kill you.

6. You need to send this as a LTTE to your newspaper. It is excellent.

7. And this overshadowed some very smart
strategy, outdoing Bush's own plan, mostly ignoring criticism in order to hammer in his own attack. In other words, he accomplished everything well, as he did in his Convention speech. I wouldn't make it sopund like it was purely a serious forensic presentation innocent of strategy or just cynical strategy. He honestly melded both into a coherent, brilliant tour de force against a terrible non-entity sustained only by arrogance.

The GOP could never find a stand in to prepare them for honest genius.

8. since the republicans claim that what's important is "steady leadership"
... even if that leadership takes us in the wrong direction,... Kerry is the stronger and steadier leader and even if the republicans don't like the direction he will take, they should vote for Kerry because he is the more "steady leader".

(Hope I wrote that so it makes sense.)

9. Great post !
Who looked Presidential? To some people, image is everything.

The camera brought Bush forward and it still didn't help his image. Kerry looked Presidential - Bush looked like he just woke up with a hangover.

10. He took the high road
That's what impresses me. It was highly effective. Like many others here I was hoping for a no-holds-barred ass-whupping. Instead he treated the office of President with respect, and showed respect for the intelligence of the voters.

He put aside the advice of handlers and pundits and partisans. He was himself. He is bringing RESPECT back to the American political process.
