Team Dean Racing - our answer to NASCAR Dads
Think we may not win the South? Try again my friends....

Friends of Howard Dean have decided that the NASCAR Busch Series is the perfect vehicle by which to enhance the popularity and exposure of Howard Dean during his run for the Presidency. A presence in this series will also give his army of supporters a media forum to use to connect with the millions of race fans who are also potential voters.

The NASCAR Busch Series, which is nationally broadcast for thirty-four weekends a year on both television and radio, is the second highest rated form of racing on television.

1. It didn't work for Graham. Why should it work for us?

It's Friends for Howard Dean.

See the disclaimer on the bottom of the website?

Paid for by Dean supporters and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

Amazing thing.

6. For a few select races.....................
it wouldn't be too bad. For the full series, yes, that would take an enormous sum of money and wouldn't be cost effective. Both Daytona races, Charlotte, Martinsburg etc. would give him a lot of coverage for the money. It's exactly the demographic that he wants to reach in the south.

9. Still, it's a great idea if Dean can make it happen.
Somebody like Soros could help with this.

7. A lot of things that didn't work for Graham have worked for Dean
That's not meant to be a jab at Graham, because he's a great guy, but let's face it, his entire campaign just laid there like an egg.

Personally, I think sponsoring a race care is a great idea, especially if Dean gets the endorsement of a popular driver. (Suggestions, anyone?)

I think this would help Dean get the attention of people who might otherwise not give him the time of day.

10. Probably a Full Schedule: Here's the Press Release.
January 08, 2004

Brian Weber Racing to field Howard Dean for President Chevy in NASCAR Busch Series

Brian Weber Racing is excited to unveil plans for the 2004 season in the NASCAR Busch Series. Weber, a Long Island, New York native, will be teaming up with Howard Dean supporters to run his No. 84 Chevy promoting Howard Dean for President. "I am really happy to be able to combine my racing program with a way to promote a candidate that I believe is good for America," said Weber.

Weber hopes to use the fan base of the NASCAR Busch Series as a way to educate people on the views of Howard Dean and also to encourage people who may not normally vote, to vote for the first time this year. "It is my goal to give Howard Dean's army of volunteers a chance to mingle with NASCAR fans and also to educate the fans who don't usually vote on just how important that right is, no matter what your political views are," said Weber.

Brian Weber has been a part time competitor in the NASCAR Busch Series for the last several years with positive results, and is preparing to run a full schedule in 2004 if finances allow. Promoting Dean and working with Dean volunteers in NASCAR venue cities around the country will be an integral part of the Team Dean Racing program this season. Said Weber of his faith in Dean, "I am a hard working guy who has really had to work for everything I have ever had and I believe Howard Dean has some great ideas to help hard working Americans like myself and to help people and humanity in general."

Weber is looking to turn this independent venture organized by Howard Dean supporters into a very competitive race team this season. Doing double duty for the Denver, NC based Team Dean Racing will be Team Manager/crew Chief Mike Stuerer.

Weber hopes that all NASCAR fans who support Howard Dean will send Dean a note of support via www.deanforamerica.com.

11. COOL Political Collectables!
I know a tiny bit about political memorabilia collecting, and these are great pieces for a collection. Especially the die-cast car.

13. That means I HAVE to buy the next EA NASCAR game
All the NASCAR and BUSCH racing are available for use on "your" car and I desperately would love to taunt the freepers that hang out on the EA NASCAR online racing site with THAT CAR.

I really had no interest in playing NASCAR games until this moment!

"And the Dean for President car of mouse7 puts the VIAGRA car into the wall!..."

MWA-HA-HA-HA!!!

14. I know one NASCAR fan
(a dem) who liked Bob Graham because of his sponsorship of the NASCAR car. So at a minimum it helps with name recognition.

Don't kid yourself about the south though, not even Clark or Edwards is going to win the south, at least not in 2004. Picking off a few states and diverting resrouces is the realistic goal.
