I only caught part of it, but was Lauer throwing softballs to Karen Hughes this morning? She did seem flummoxed when he asked "the President said 'bring 'em on'...well...they came on. Was that a poor choice of words?"
He also pointed to Bush's "evolving" stances on issues like steel tariffs and the 9/11 commission. Does that make him a flip-flopper? Then of course he let her prattle on about Kerry instead of answering the question.
If she had been Kitty Kelley he would have climbed through the screen and ripped her face off.
Did someone see the whole thing? Was he tough on her or did he let her control the interview like the part I saw?
He was sorta trying to get to W's flip-flops but the lead with that "evolving" BS.
Hughes was typical Hughes except that she tried to tie in questioning the conduct of the Iraq War with the way Vietnam Vets were treated after they came home-this seems to be the newest focus grouped tag line they are bringing out.
Actually Lauer was pretty tough on her, initially. The follow ups weren't though.
