I just saw the most LAME ad here in CA
from these jokers from PFAvoterfund, it was a cartoonish John Kerry on his windsurfer--the voice over was a woman that was trying to sound like a "valley girl"
GEEZO do they think that painting JK as a windsurfing flip flopper could EVER overshadow the fact that we have the most INCOMPETENT repulsive pResident that has ever held the office. The real joke is BUSH--like o' my godddddddddd

24. No problem, Jack -
News story, what, 2 yrs ago? The President is watching TV from a couch in the White House then finds himself regaining consciousness on the floor --- First Dog came to his aid, I think. Turns out he had choked on a pretzel.

Since you were so nice to me yesterday thought I'd 'splain. :hi:

36. The pretzel story just sounds too, too...uh..., too...Bush
He got quite a bruise from a pretzel. Just think that story is way too fishy to believe. He's alone, watching TV and suddenly the First Dog (NOT Laura!) licks him back to consciousness? Damn that dog.

The rest of the story is Laura kicked his ass for drinking and/or snorting some coke, or Cheney kicked his ass for speaking before getting it cleared with him, or Condi was giving him a BJ and it went to his head (no pun) or he went out clubbing with the twins and got into a bar fight and was beaten up by a 90-year old, one armed, asthmatic cross dresser with an attitude.

And if it honestly were a pretzel, it probably got the best of him when he lost track saying to himself, "in with the good air, out with the bad, take a bite, breath, chew, out, swallow, damn...now where was I?" Conk.

17. I wonder...
I couldn't figure out why they run that ad in California. They have no chance of winning there. Then I started thinking about the bigger picture.

The Kerry windsurfer ad isn't even about the presidential election. It's about damaging the perception of Democrats in general. Dukakis in the tank (which obviously inspired this ad) didn't just hurt Mike Dukakis' presidential campaign; it became an undying symbol of Democratic weakness, especially on national defense. I don't think it was designed to be that way, but that's what ended up happening.

I think the windsurfer ad is a deliberate attack on Democrats in general, an attempt to portray Democrats as weak and indecisive, which will be a hurdle to overcome in the future. It echoes the Dukakis ad, but also echoes a theme that Bush used against Gore and his father tried against Clinton and used against Dukakis: that Democrats are weak flip-floppers.

The WP ran the article yesterday on Bush's many, many flip-flops, but it won't change perceptions, as the people on CNN admitted: the media echo and amplify this stuff when it's against Democrats. That's because the Republicans have been repeating it over and over for almost two decades now, to the point where people, including the media, are so used to hearing it they accept it as the truth.

The Republicans are already campaigning for 2004, and 2008

if you keep saying it long enough some dumbsh*t will believe it that is why repukes are so good at keeping on message they pick a few things and repeat repeat repeat...eventually it is unclear if it was fact in the first place

26. Murdoch's Boston Herald and Bush's Willie Horton ad did Dukakis in
The Willie Horton ad raised the race card against Dukakis.

The Boston Herald also ran false stories claiming that Dukakis had been under psychiatric care.

The tank photos of Dukakis were indeed a viscious attack, but probably would have quickly been forgotten, if not for the two items above.

20. Another sign of how desperate the B/C campaign is.
Most people are attracted to athletic people. Name me something athletic about Bush? My God, he can't even ride a freakin' bike.

I've been doing that since I was around 4!

So, what does the B/C campaign do? They try to mock the things Kerry does and try to make him look foolish. All the while, I keep asking, "What is your point, Bush?"

29. I thought it was funny... (Calif. here)
Kerry is MY GUY. The message in the ad was obviously wrong...but, in all honesty, I thought the ad was cute. At least it wasn't filled with hatred and evil overtones. It was just a simple ad to try to make their case against our guy.

As far as ads go, I laughed--I thought it was clever on their part. I wasn't offended. It's just politics guys.

I DID, however, idealize about a similar ad with Bush falling off his different bikes...LOL That would be funny too. Although repub guys don't have near the sense of humor that we do, do they? C' mon.

30. How about one of the Chimp doing the half-branny off of his Segway?
I've seen stills of this moronic moment, and they look like video captures.

The Chimp **just** manages to keep his balance after his ungainly "dismount." Probably full of vacation spirit.

33. Heard this somewhere.
Or read that the "pretzel story" was all concocted to cover up the real story.

He was watching football in a room all by himself. He stumbled, or passed out or fell on the floor and hit his head.

There was no pretzel. They knew they had to come up with a quick story to cover that he was drunk. So this is what they put out. I can't remember where I saw it.

The GOP can never paint themselves as "hip".

What's GREAT about the video is that IT INTRODUCES JOHN KERRY AS A WINDSURFER to most young people who had no idea that he was THAT COOL.

Press on the "backfire" button, Karl. Wha wha wha...
