IS Kerry pulling Az ads or was I dreaming?
Thought I heard on the radio this AM that Kerry was pulling his new ads in Arizona becuase the campaign felt he wasn't doing well enough here to justify the expense?? huh?!!
:wtf:

There is only all of N AZ who swing way more liberal and would vote for him if he makes the slightest effort.... I don't understand why they( campaign advisors) feel it's a smart move to PULL ADS IN AZ??

Thoughts anyone???????????

1. Bush is about 49 to 50% support right now
It will be very hard (but not impossible) for Kerry to win.
They are switching to GOTV and canvassing ONLY in these states that they've pulled ads.
McCain is also not helping there.

6. Doesnt look good

This is a low-point. I thought we had a shot in Arkansas and Arizona. I saw positive polls and now the Kerry camp is closing shop? that is an ominus sign that this campaign is struggling and simply not capable of breaking thru the massive media filter. No matter how many people are sympathetic to progressive ideals, the people with the power of information and money are right-wing and will continue to hold power.

The media is destroying our country and if we re-elect (selec) Bush we will become a fucking laughing stock of the entire world....but at least everyone will be afraid of us.

7. Their not closing shop permanently, people.
The campaign is reserving money until after the debates, so they can see what areas are in play and what areas aren't.

All these people who've never run a campaign panic at every move the campaign makes. God, it's funny.

9. Then why isnt Bush pulling out?

I see so much justification going on here. Every move is explained away.

If this was a legitimate strategy, then why isn't the Shrub pulling out money until after the debates?

Even in that story (if you read it), it says the Kerry camp doesn't think he's doing well enough to keep in with only Missouri being in contention.

So basically the story I respond to SAYS they are pulling out becuase Kerry isn't doing well enough yet you respond by telling me why the "really" are pulling out.

I watch the news and its an abyss of pure shit...nothing but negative against Kerry, spinning right-wing talking points, giving free passes to Bush. The media is basically owned and run by organizations with a vested (financial) interest in the re-electio of this ass-clown in the White House.

The only way Democrats will ever become a dominant party again is to call the ball on the absolute exploitation of our democracy that has been well under way for years now...These goddamn "we need more jobs", "we need health care" talking points aint cutting it when you are behind the media veil.

3. Kerry needs to wake up and start to address
his Hispanic and Native supporters. He will get a large majority of their votes if he just shows up!

4. Arizona should be a Dem target state
Of Louisiana, Arkansas, Arizona, and Missouri, it might make sense to pull ads from Louisiana to save money, but Arkansas and Arizona are razor-thin Bush leads, and Missouri should tighten up toward the end (Kerry has even led there at times during the campaign). This strategy reminds me of Gore's strategy to write off Ohio, which he ended up losing by just over 3%. It's true that you have to pick your fights, but Bush is gonna have to scrap, too. Better to stretch his funds thinner by broadening your attack, in my opinion.

5. I hope he's not giving up on them atogether
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 09:50 AM by rocknation
I certainly hope this doesn't mean he won't do rallies or press conferences there. He can still run radio and newspaper ads. He can still interview with local stations. One bright spot--AirAmerica hits Phoenix AZ this week!

8. I think it's a mistake
to pull all ads in AZ. Hope moveon steps in here. I think the ads they already have in the can, featuring Repubs who are not voting for Bush, would help a lot in the metro Phoenix area.

N and S AZ will go Kerry, pulled along by the Flagstaff and Tucson areas and the reservations. Maricopa County is the battleground area in AZ and we need a Kerry presence here. We can win AZ.

11. I agree..N & S AZ will definitely go Kerry
I hope too this is just temporary....the polls are so skewed and thus affect how people vote. (The media just really sucks.)

I hope he at least comes to Phoenix and tours part of the state a few more times...it means a lot to potential voters and for all the people working SO hard to get him elected. Nothing excites the voters as much as knowing that your candidate cares enough to show up.

10. he's not completely pulling out
he's cycling down in ads for a couple of days. He'll be right back up on MO, AZ and AR. I thought he gave up Louisiana a while ago.

12. Most Polls are showing Chimp
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 11:08 AM by BrentTaylor
with a 10 point lead in the AZ. Not to mention I'm pretty sure Kerry's internal polling doesn't justify continuing to advertise there. If it did believe me he would still be there. Its time to focus on keeping the GOre states NM, PA, WIS, and Iowa. And Capturing NV, FL, NH, WV, and OH.
