You know what's the biggest problem of the Left blogs?
People not going out enough. Seriously, watch Obama's two rallies in NJ today, thousand and thousand of people still hysterically in love with this man. That's because most people don't see life in black and white. Most people still remember the previous 8 years. Most people can appreciate that even if the situation is still bad, it's nevertheless far batter than it's been 9 months ago. They know that Obama isn't a king. He can't pass the perfect health care reform just by himself - But whatever bill that will pass still be a huge progress to the current status-quo. Most people know that this is one hell of a mess and they just want a president who's a decent man that will fight for them. And they see a president who work tirelessly, under very difficult circumstances and the toughest presidency ever. And most people out of those who voted for Barack Obama - gets that.

1. why is that a problem?
I think it's fine to have people along the range from wildly enthusiastic to skeptical. Why not?

And one thing that is usually overlooked is that the skeptics actually do appreciate some things about Obama. The "Obama hatred" is exaggerated.

3. Rallies are fun
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 04:10 PM by AllentownJake
Barack Obama is an excellent speaker and knows how to work a crowd. So is Joe Biden.

People don't go to rallies to get information. People go to rallies because they want to see the person holding the rally.

Blogs don't really deal with election issues. Blogs are where people go to get information. Some of the information is good some of the information is bad.

You can go to a rally and be supporting a bad candidate. Palin has rallies too.

There really is nothing wrong with either of them.

No, I don't have the link but I remember reading it when I put together info on Obama's last Corzine visit. Maybe it's in some White House background stuff, if anybody wants to go look.

13. Fact Is, They Have Reason To Be Disappionted So Far....
Obama is a good man, but I am not alone in questioning his judgment at times, especially on health.....

I suspect that, like me, most all of his critics on this board would rather kiss the ground that Obama
walks on than accept the McCain/Palin sick joke of a candidacy. Far from hate, at least for me.....

7. I'd say the biggest problem is equating argument with intelligent thought.
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 04:25 PM by boppers
On both the left and the right (and across the center), there seems to be a trend to treat argument as if it were, by default, valuable information. Thus, people are blogging with their arguments, fighting and countering on TV, screaming on the radio, while actually delivering very little in the way of solutions or ideas.

Jon Stewart on crossfire comes to mind, where he mocked ideological punditry for the vapidness it brings to the discourse.

11. Really.
Obama's latest use of "secrecy" to shield presidential lawbreaking
What was once depicted as a grave act of lawlessness -- Bush's NSA program -- is now deemed a vital state secret.
By Glenn Greenwald

The Obama administration has, yet again, asserted the broadest and most radical version of the "state secrets" privilege -- which previously caused so much controversy and turmoil among loyal Democrats (when used by Bush/Cheney) -- to attempt to block courts from ruling on the legality of the government's domestic surveillance activities. Obama did so again this past Friday -- just six weeks after the DOJ announced voluntary new internal guidelines which, it insisted, would prevent abuses of the state secrets privilege. Instead -- as predicted -- the DOJ continues to embrace the very same "state secrets" theories of the Bush administration -- which Democrats generally and Barack Obama specifically once vehemently condemned -- and is doing so in order literally to shield the President from judicial review or accountability when he is accused of breaking the law.

I guess Bush was right and we all were wrong.

16. lies? what lies, specifically? the lie about using state secrets like bushco? the lie about
keeping the white house visitors' log secret? the lie about bagram and prisoners? those lies, for example? oh wait, those are all the truth.

as I have said before, blind, unquestioning, uncritical obeisance to a leader is dangerous, no matter who the leader, and who the followers.

on the right. The left has always spent too much effort attacking others of the left whose ideas and sympathies are not "correct ideas" according some immaginary leftist line graph. People try to "out left" others to the detriment of all of us, have been doing so for several generations now, with no end in sight. It's one of the reasons the left has had such a bad time in this country - fragmentation an internal squabbling. If the Republicans were as bad as the left at this, we'd all be cheering and laughing at them. It's one reason for the continued success of RW hate groups in the US-traditional lack of cohesion of the left.

27. Imagine leftists thinking they can change their mind of those who aren't quite to the left rather
than expend energy on the right wingers who will never go their way. Damn them for expecting more from people who claim to be progressive or at least less right of center than the last group and holding them to it. Why they're just a bunch of bastards for having standards. The nerve!

34. Well if having standards is a bad thing and expecting politicians to adhere to said standards
rather than taking any old piece of shit they send our way to pacify us whether it will actually benefit us or not then I'm guilty.

But as long as you put up with any bullshit from these people and continue to vote for them they will continue to screw you over again and again.

I'm not putting up with crumbs when I know there's a hell of a lot more available.

I appreciate leftist blogs for putting pressure on Obama and staying active in what they believe in. But purity tests make me uneasy. We risk becoming like the Rethugs if we constantly reject everyone and anyone who is a fraction less left then you. Moderate liberals are fighting with ultra liberals on DU and it is kind of pathetic.

33. There is not a single person I know that supports Obama anymore
He and his DLC thugs has squandered any support they had from the family farmers and healthy non GMO, more regulated food sector.

Out of 45 people, none of them had any kind words for Obama's first term.

It's amazing how we never get called for these so called Public opinion Polls, which are nothing more than Propaganda at it's cheapest.

Like they expect people to ignore all the dirty dealing just because a Poll generated in some polling Corporation tells them to.

Personally, I see the Moderate Liberals and DINO's, simply because the walk and talk like Joe Lieberman or Hillary Clinton. In other words, they act like idiots and pollute the party with their whining tirades about Kucinich, or Dean, or Ron Paul, who are the last Congressmen to actually have the guts to tell it like it is.

I will not settle for Republican Lite, or what is now called the DLC.

32. Milquetoast Posters like you that try to weasle in propaganda?
Poor Obama, he just can't do it by himself.. He'll just hire Lobbyists to help him. Maybe he can get almost the entire crew from the First Clinton Administration to help him, even though America showed Hillary the dooors months before the election. Maybe he should hire more people from Monsanto to help him knock those powerful cCorporations a notch. Maybe he should sit back and let gangsters on Wall Street wallow in more Monopoly Money at our expense.

I think you better take off your rose colored glasses, stop taking your Zoloft as directed, and start coming down from you altered consciousness and start doing some critical thinking instead of Grandstanding for a screwed up attempt at Health Care Reform.
