What if Obama gets H1N1?

All executive groups must take a look at their structure and succession architecture, to see how they can prepare to weather difficult situations.

How do they handle the president being sick, and the possibility that he can infect other team members? Do they have any screening process to keep sick folks away from him? I just saw the pictures from the festival of lights, and thought shaking a lot of hands would be a good whay to get sick...

Can they require that all WH staff take a flu shot?

What if someone comes on Air Force One (AF1) and they are contagious? Is there anything built into the systems to help purify the air? Have they reduced social contact on the plane? A closed tube fo several hours is not alway they best thing to do...

If the president has a typical flu-like response, like you may have had in a past flu....do you think he should turn power over temporarily while he gets through "the worst part"? How long can the "the worst part" be....acouple hours or days?

at all.

If he gets flu, he will get antivirals. You can bank on it. He is valuable.

If he feels poorly, his schedule will probably be curtailed for a couple of days. Or whatever. It won't provoke any national crisis. And no, it won't result in "marshall" law, either.

The instant he has a slight case of the sniffles, he's gonna get looked at, probably given all the Tamiflu, Advil and chicken soup that he needs, and they'll make sure they're on top of any bug he catches long before it could become life-threatening.

If it's something more serious, the White House is prepared to deal with anything up to and including biological weapons, and they can indeed isolate & quarantine as required...

Besides, for most people, H1N1 isn't overwhelming. It's influenza, so you'll get fever, chills, coughing, flu symptoms, and it'll suck for a few days, then your immune system will beat it down and you'll be back to normal. H1N1 kills people just like any form of influenza occasionally kills people, but chances are if you get it, unless you have something wrong with your immune system or you're the victim of freak circumstance, you'll be OK.

My friend had H1N1 a few weeks ago.

Mildest flu he's ever had.. no special medication required, just OTC stuff.

None of his other roomates caught it.

Plus, Obama has no history of immune disorder problems.
