Last night at work one of my co-workers saw the headline in the USA Today about the win of the Nobel Peace Prize. This lady, an older black woman, said, "If that son-of-a-bitch wins I'd shoot him myself!" I explained that he had already won an she was just in a dither. I asked her why she was being so hostile and she started in on this rant about how she said that the only time a black man would become a major figure in politics is if he was half-white and had a white grandmother.

I said to her that hopefully this will begin a process so that people can see all the doom and gloom they espouse about the races is not warranted.

She turned to me and said, "There's a book that has a title you need to know about..."What do you mean "we" white man?"

I just walked away from the remainder of her rant.

And he's half black. I guess some people don't care about truth if it conflicts with their prejudices.

She only saw his "white half". To where as many white people only see his "black half". Never mind he's a whole person.
