Aw man, that sucked last night. I was at my local pub, drinking Goose Island Honker Ale, when the bartender came by me and started telling me about all the polls that have Kerry far behind. He listed of something like five different ones (I think he was separating ones that are combined actually, but I don't know them well enough to recognize that quickly.
I tried to tell him about the three that had come out even, and that the others were oversampling Repubs, but he was bartendering and so I couldn't get it out effectively.
When he came back from serving a drink, he said that Kerry was pulling out of Arizona and Missouri and listed a few more he'd heard that Kerry was no longer advertising in.
He ended with "It's okay, Erica. I'm just going to enjoy myself in November."
He so gleeful about the whole thing, and always speaks as if he thinks he has all the information. I asked where he was getting his info. He says the news. I don't know which network.
The sad thing is I now Nick is not informed. He's assuming Bush is his guy because he's a Republican, and Nick always has been.
I've been studying this stuff for a while and have actually worked for the campaign. He only knows what he reads in the local paper, and what he hears on the local radio and tv news.
He is also the chickenhawk I need to shove the article about Kerry's medals being legit down the throat of. He and some of the other guys were pushing each other in the arm at one point when I was down there, then saying "Oh ouch, I should get a purple heart now." As the daughter of a vet, the sister of two vets, and the sister in law of still anther, this pissed off my non-serving self more than I expected it too. I feel like some sort of dove/hawk.
This campaign is so against the war and yet so full of veterans. Weird. I used to consider myself a pacifist type. I think I'm getting my horizons broadened.
I have a running bet with Nick about the election. I told him Kerry would not only win, but that it wouldn't be close. Made him do a spit take when I said it too. He did another one when I told him Kerry was strong on defense. Those were my fun moments. I guess these are his.
We shall see who's laughing come November.
