The Hate is Everywhere...
This is so well said.
I hope they are wrong.
I fear not.

http://www.americablog.com/2009/08/hate-is-everywhere.html

What's increasingly interesting (http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/08/29/summer-of-hate/) and disturbing, is how it's looking more and more like the hate the right-wing is whipping up surrounding health care reform is quite real. Meaning, these nutjobs aren't faking it. The Republicans, FOX News, and conservative talk radio have actually convinced a vocal minority of the country that Hitler and Stalin have been reincarnated as a black fellow from Chicago. I'm not sure what this all means, but I do think it's on a path towards some serious violence. You don't wind people up to this degree against the government, and against specific political leaders - tell them that their worst nightmare has come true, that we are literally losing our nation to the equivalent of Adolf Hitler - and not have some nutjob act out violently a la Oklahoma City, or worse. I'm still rather amazed that the Democrats aren't discussing the potential for violence among the Republican masses.

Americablog is a treasure, give it a look.

1. Irony.
The gun nuts (who are merely coat-tailing the Health Care Howlers) are completely stuck and the Administration knows it. The 2nd Amendment rights they hold so dear and so elastically interpret would be the first casualty after one of their number decides to go over the edge.
I'll bet the Secret Service is actually loving this.

2. RW talk radio has ads calling for protests
against this "socialist" administration. In Illinois. The ads haven't let the Bill Ayers thing die either, thereby attempting to fuel more hate, as far as I can tell. The calls involve setting up tent cities in protest, which would not only allow one to demonstrate one's "patriotism" but also might be enough of a spectacle for which a fee to onlookers could be charged.

I'm sensing loathing, greed, and insanity. I could not believe my ears....

5. Where in Illinois? What stations? I'd be willing to call and give
the station managers a piece of my mind.

6. this is the same vocal minority that has always been opposed to progress
Edited on Sat Aug-29-09 05:09 PM by noiretextatique
they do not stop abolition, they did not stop the women's movement, they did not stop the civil rights movement, or the labor movement, or the gay lgbt movement. if there is any violence, WE will respond. we survived reagan, bush 1 and 2, and i'll be damned if a few angry white men try to destroy this opportunity for progress.

7. Rec'd. The Dems may be hoping that if they don't talk about it, nothing will happen
That is a potentially dangerous position to take.

There are some f*cking psychopaths in the world.

8. The Right Wing's Screaming and Threats of Violence
Shows the paucity of their ideas and leadership. They have nothing left but screaming old White men.

10. This is the culmination of
all the years of hate radio telling their listeners how evil Dems are. We can't back down on health care. This has to be the line in the sand. If the Dems back down and the screamers win, can you imagine the screaming about climate change or anything else the Dems are for. You are going to see the fights get worse.

Since they brought it up, all the books I've read on how the Nazi's took over, this is how it started. The "Family" believes in the methods of the Nazi's. The screaming, the trying to silence their opponents. The opponents of the Nazi's finally gave up. We can not do that. We must stand firm and never give up the fight.
