Because some are suggesting that the officer in the case Gates case was a "diversity Profiling expert" and the one who attempted to "rescusitate" some Black Ball player years ago, and that should prove he is not a racist....or something like that.

Point is that I didn't see big AP headlines about Rev. Wright's service to his country and his aiding a President back in the day of the Month long Pastorbaiting Rev. Wright Loop D Loop Cable/Newspaper/Network Marathon!

Now why was that?

15. Reverend Wright was a US Navy hospital corpsman in the 1960s when LBJ was President.
Edited on Thu Jul-23-09 06:13 PM by 4lbs
Mr. Wright served at National Navy Medical Center at Bethesda, Maryland the day LBJ was brought in and directly worked with doctors to help the President get better in the hospital.

Reverend Wright even got a letter from the LBJ White House thanking him for his service to the President.

Click on this link for a picture of Mr. Wright tending to LBJ and a photocopy of that letter:

hxxp://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e9/Jeremiah_Wright_as_a_Marine_Medic_Tending_to_Pres_Lyndon_Johnson.jpg

(NOTE: replace the hxxp with http)

Yet, none of that was mentioned during the month that Reverend Wright was being raked over the coals by the media for his "Goddamn America!" statement in his fiery sermon. The media didn't even report the full context of that sermon and WHY Reverend Wright said it. It was just like Sonia Sotomayor's "wise Latina" statement. They focused only on one sentence instead of the ENTIRE CONTEXT of the speech.

He was just some anti-American black terrorist then, I guess.

3. there seems to be a "movement" trying to claim "reverse racism"
a black man is president so black people should shut up and stop complaining and crying racism. they couldn't just be happy with having the presidency they have to go out and appoint a latina to a position of power. and that latina dares to think she is more qualified than most white men.

this is the feeling i'm getting with everything happening.

17. Some of that with the Ricci case, and why have Sotomayor when we already have Obama.
Seems to be a quota, lest we get too many non-white.

4. The more one claims to not be racist, the more I think they are. You don't have to
prove you are or you are not. Wouldn't most people rescusitate an NBA player.. I'd like to know if he'd do that for a black crack addict prostitute? Doubtful.

5. Well, I could be wrong, but…
Rev. Wright represented everything this society fears in a black man -- strong, outspoken, not afraid to speak truth to power, educated, black and proud of it.
Officer Crowley represents everything this society sees in itself and is afraid will be exposed -- abuse of power, racism, and classism. That's why there are so many apologists posting in defense of the officer. And then there's Obama, who, in their eyes, was let into their world and at the first sign of racial tension sided with "us" over "them".

I see so much stuff related to race on this site that needs to be addressed but it would be like trying to exterminate a roach-infested motel with a fly swatter. I kid you not, I can spend about 30 minutes here before I need to take a nap. The ignorance/insensitivity -- call it what you will -- just wears me out!

6. LOL. The media is going to make the cop out to be some kind of hero
Because Obama dared to question his actions. Meanwhile a real hero (Rev. Wright) was savaged in an attempt to bring down Obama.

The media tried to drive Obama's white support away from him by using Rev. Wright. Now they're trying to do the same thing by painting the cop as some kind of hero. Anything to kill Obama's agenda.

At least this is how I see things.

9. Will the witness who was with Gates and the police officer clarify what happened
I am sure someone on DU witnessed everything because everyone seems to known the "truth" about what happened. Or is it DU's version of free republic - "I know what happened because I am always right and smarter than all and more all knowing than any god".

13. here is the thing, why arrest an old man once he is in his own home regardless of the way he was
acting ? he wasn't a threat to anyone.

11. I heard Rev Wright - I listened to his interviews - I wasn't at Gates house
and I don't know any of the participants. I believe what I witness - I'm skeptical when others belive something because they believe they have evidence that is unrevealted to all but their own cohort.

16. Since WHEN did Rev. Wright EVER get a "pass"?
I'm not defending Wright. He was one of the few mistakes the Obama campaign made--they should have aired out his dirty laundry themselves, rather than letting the Clinton campaign do it for them.

But the man was flogged in the media for months--when did he EVER get a "pass"?
