Ad Idea
...not that I have the resources to make this, but maybe someone out there does.

start with a bunch of clips of bush at his stupidest: stuff from before he was selected, falling off a segway, tripping over his own words, saying osama doesn't matter, etc.

after a few seconds of just bush, start interspersing clips of his dumbest supporters, the real uneducated trash types. I'm sure footage exists of some REALLY dumb reasons to support Bush, spoken by some ovbiously dumb people.

start mixing clips of his supporters with clips of bush fucking up reporters' questions (gotta have the imfamous "what's your biggest mistake" clip), and saying that gynecologists can't practice their love, that sort of stuff.

Fade out to the words "Supporting George Bush makes YOU look Stupid."

Hold the words onscreen for a second, then end with the clip of bush picking his nose at a Rangers game.

I know, it's kinda mean, but it's also true. And funny.

1. Better yet: focus attention on the ISSUES
because bush* falls harder and faster there than he does from anything with wheels

3. I'm not all that serious about this ad
nor do I have any hope of ever seeing it.

I just think it would be funny to flat-out call bushies stupid on TV.

Obviously issues matter more to smart people, but there are and
awful lot of people out there who vote on image.

Eh, take it or leave it. Just letting my brain go free-range for a while.

11. The Kerry campaign needs to focus its ads on the issues but...
there's nothing wrong with one of the many 527s doing something like this. I think it's a great idea and I've been wondering why no one has done it yet. For crying out loud, there's a gold mine worth of stuff out there.

With people like this you have to attack them on several fronts. Hit them so hard that they don't know which way to turn.

2. that's a terrible idea
Haven't you noticed the repubs entire strategy depends on faux-populism, that they tell
"average" americans that the "so called experts" think they are dumb and don't trust them to make decisions and so on, while the republicans listen to the real wisdom of the heartland.

It's a total crock of shit -- but calling people who in their mind are honestly not sure who to vote for stupid ain't gonna win you fans.

7. See you didn't like being called stupid either ;-)
It's like a total paradox of circularity. Brilliant even.

Much like this thread, which is much better, obviously:

10. Hey, welcome to the DU to both of you!

:hi:
Looking forward to reading more from you both.

And, aeolian, it's OK for us to disagree. It is what we do as we kick around ideas. If you just wanna make a joke or fun post to let off steam, drop it off at the Lounge where it will be taken more lightly. ;)

Since you posted this in GD2004, we will take it seriously. I think an ad making fun of bush* and supporters over the, ahem, lack of charm and poise they sometimes exhibit is a bad idea on many levels. Not an attack on you, just honest thoughts on this one particular idea.

Flailey made a good point about the emphasis by the spin masters to make bush* look like the populists choice while attacking any liberal for being elitist. Any ad just making fun of a guy for being clumsy would be doing their work for them. We have other fish to fry.

Now, have some of havocmom's homemade soup and let's be pals. DU is a great place. Good to have you both here.

edited cuz I'm the typo queen

12. Disagreement is fine
it's the assumption that I'm seriously about to do this ad that bugs me.

If I put this in the wrong forum, I'm sorry. I thought it was clear that I was kidding. I guess I was wrong.
