Just how far can Bush ride on fear alone?

Sure fear sells. And in a panic people do foolish things such as vote for Bush and pass the PATRIOT Act. But it's hard to keep people in a constant state of panic.

Surely fear fatigue will set in and people will tire of being afraid. How long until we hit that threshold? Will it be in time to save our country from the Bush Cartel?

Inquiring minds wanna know.

2. Fear is an extremely powerful basis for manipulation.

Anytime there is a major terrorist event, in Russia, in Israel, in Iraq, etc, BushCo gets another shot of adrenaline. That Russian school massacre really gave the Chimperor a boost.

If we had a nice long calm spell up to the election, it would start fading.

If we are still the same people who settled this country... then it had better backfire... we don't take kindly to people who try to manipulate us through fear or other methods.... didn't work way back when.. shouldn't work now.. all things being the same. I would rather die than be a fearful maggot hoping some despot will keep me safe from things that that despot and people like him helped to create.

But knowledge (to know that danger and traps exist), perception (to look for the hidden danger), perspective (to recognize the hidden danger) and wisdom (to defend yourself from danger -- and from fear) are more so. But these take some discipline and self control to gain them -- and to learn to utilize them. Fear requires only itself. And men who have little else are prey to it.

You do well to fear the wild (feral) dogs, but you are foolish to run into their trap. And they will let you see one (or a few) of their numbers, so that you will run away -- to the others lying in wait.

Many of the fearful are taken in this way.

But wild dogs recognize and fear both the stick and the rock. These weapons are lying about you -- pick them up and use them.

Fear is their weapon -- and fighting back is ours.

For wild dogs will pursue you and your fear for a great distance -- if they don't eat you first.

terrorist attack to win this election. We are tired of being afraid, he can't sustain that emotion over 2 months (since RNC) no way.

And I mean a terrorist attack overseas, cause if it happens here, his credibility on the WOT takes a huge hit and won't help him as much as some think.
