The President flies ALOT, many of which are LONG distance flights....Just wondered how many pilots are aboard each flight, in case one falls ill, collapses, or even dies?.....

1. There was a lengthy documentary not long ago re Air Force 1.
They are covered for all contingencies. They interviewed the crew that flies POTUS and there is enough crew to handle any emergency, including medical and other emergency services. It was a very impressive piece.

6. Oh, but he is just an actor!
I know for a fact most people could beat him up with one arm tied behind their back.

9. So are "the terrorists"
Not that some of them aren't really sincerely terrorists, but they are all just playing roles to advance their personal causes. here isn't so much difference between the "good guys" and the "bad guys" in this production.

13. Obama goes all Bruce Lee on their asses and then lands the plane.
Of course we would never find out, because his kung fu skills are top secret.

3. Esp. the part about the cloths they used to clean the plane with....
.... a crew cleans it, inside and out, by hand and if even ONE of the cloths isn't accounted for when they're done, they cant leave until they've found them all.

I'd imagine they have "lots of pilots" covered.

7. Oh, shit! I'll bet no one has ever thought about safety issues like this on Air Force One!
Good catch. The world may some day have you to thank for saving the president's life!

11. I wonder if they thought about what to do if they get off course
Maybe they could have a wireless PC that could sign on to Google Maps/ Do you think I should send them this suggestion for free or is there some way I can make some money off this breakthrough insight?

12. Maybe someone could invent some sort of long distance talky-thing so they can find the runways
And maybe some sort of rolling thing to put on the bottom of the air craft so it can land safely, too.

10. Now I'm worried as to whether they check people's shoes before they board Air Force 1--

Does AF1 offer vegetarian entrees?

Is the air system fitted with an antimicrobial filter?

17. Other than the poor pilot and his family this was a non-event
The passengers never knew anything had happened until the plane landed. On long over ocean flights, there are three pilots on board for extra redundancy. For regular flights, if something happens to one pilot, the second one can quickly call for an emergency landing location and get the plane down. Since that is not an option over oceans, there is the extra pilot to make sure.

There was never one moment of danger to the plane or anyone on board. And no point whatsoever of all the news coverage.

My condolences to the pilot's family.
