When did Jon Voight go insane?
Was he always like this? Any history on his derangement, people?

The dangerous rhetoric he spewed out last night could easily drive another religious nut to try to take out Obama. They're already out there, this could add more.

By the way, Mr. Voight, don't lecture to me about Israel. As a Jew, I've got a way bigger dog in this fight than you do.

2. As a young man Voight's political views were liberal
As a young man Voight's political views were liberal and he supported both John F. Kennedy and George McGovern. During the Nixon administration Voight actively protested against the Vietnam War. However, in a July 28, 2008, op-ed in The Washington Times he wrote that he regrets his youthful anti-war activism, calling it the result of "Marxist propaganda."

Hell, I'd be Dick Cheney.

But seriously, his thinking is so scrambled he has either had some bad drugs in his past or he's on medication now.

6. I remember discussing this a while back
What a shock it was to see him sitting behind Rudy Giuliani during the primaries. The Jon Voight I remembered was a political activist and somewhere along the way he turned into an ultra conservative. Something got rewired in his brain. Maybe you're right, it could have been the drugs.

8. Thanks for that, DJ
That's what I was afraid of. I always wonder what would make a person go from one political extreme to the other. My political views have stayed the same since I was 16, 42 years ago.

Liberal yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

34. Me, too, Bev! I've only modified my perspective to fit with changing times, but
my moral compass has been stuck in the same place since I first realized what was going on in Vietnam at aged 12 in 1967.

There is a Jewish stereotype of the left-wing firebrand who fights for liberal causes. I think they (we) are the real Jews: we are scholarly, encouraged to question the Status Quo, feel compassion for those with less--probably because we've been the lowest of the low ourselves. These Bill Kristol Paul Wolfowitz, Ben Stein, David Horowitz, Jonah Goldberg types are Manichevitz-drinking idiots! It is 100 kindz of wrong for Jews to be Repugs.

they go liberul for a couple elections just to piss the parents off.
Then fall into the fold and push repuke-ism to new heights.

Funny how, I now feel more spiritual and more conservative(in the true sense) than my christian repuke sister will ever be.

14. Old, scared, white man who sees a different America from the one he
grew up in.

Fear of the inevitable, fear of change. As some of these people age they cling to a past where they felt safer, were more certain of themselves, and had more of life before them than behind them.

When you are getting to the end of the string, any change is usually a bad thing.

17. As they say....
The only constant in the universe is change. Most of us understand that reality and learn to deal with it. It is what it is.

These sick, sad, sorry people long for the days of Mayberry, the Good Humor Man, Winky Dink and kicking around women, Mexicans and Black people. Those days aren't coming back anytime soon, thank God.

21. Yeah, I think they came to some sort of uneasy truce.
But, I think the lot of them have 'issues', to a greater or lesser degree.

I always take whatever a 'celebrity' says about politics, on the right or left, with a grain of salt.

It's just a personal opinion, like any other, neither better or worse because of the fame of the person, so I attach just as much weight to it as the guy two bar stools down blathering on.
