Obama's Cairo speech and Rachel's analysis were spot on.
He cleared the air on a number of issues at the heart of US-Middle East relations that American Presidents have long denied, tapdanced around or handwaved through, such as the CIA-executed coup in Iran, the intolerable situation of Palestinians, etc. With these issues clearly acknowledged, the US is in a stronger position now to become the "honest broker" that we haven't been for the last 50 years.

My only criticism would be that his repeated affirmations that we no longer torture and that we no longer use 9-11 as justification for crimes against humanity would carry far more weight if he showed the slightest interest in holding torturers and war criminals in the US accountable for their crimes.
