The president has had to always pay for his own food
Apparently some idiots are under the impression that if Obama dines at a nice restaurant then the taxpayer money covers it. Well they are wrong. The first family actually pays for the food prepared at the White House.

I read about this in an article at the National Geographic magainze.

The first family do not have to cover the bill for official state dinners. But still that is one pricey bill! :scared:

I have included a link:

3. Not sure about that
As I said that is one pricey bill. And the president is put in a situation where he has to eat and pay for expensive meals almost all the time.

8. That is a very small fraction of the overall number of meals
I think a former first lady was pretty shocked at how pricey the bill was.

9. (shrug) I don't think it's a "very small fraction", but I wouldn't mind seeing the actual numbers.

EDIT: In any case, it still sounds fair to me.

6. What dipshits. White House food/commissary is run by the USN, so, the First Family
Edited on Sat May-30-09 09:52 PM by Captain Hilts
has to pay for their meals in the White House just as a naval officer does - even in the middle of the ocean.

Now, if it's a State Dinner, they don't have to pay for that. Anything else, yes. And for the whole family and guests.

10. I don't think they have to pay for all the food in the white house, that makes no sense
All of that is like 5star meals. I just saw a special on the White House, its no way they make him pay for all of that.

for the Obama's dinner and a show out..

They lie because they can ..the so called "media" isn't going to check up on the veracity. In fact they're going to join in the chorus of whine and cheeeeeeezzzzzeeeeeee.
