Turley--She's quite bright.
But being bright doesn't mean she'll have a vision.

~sigh~ Now I have to hear him backtracking...I dislike that guy immensely.

1. And he cited another case, which I'm sure the r/w will
be all over tomorrow. Yea, he's got his agenda.

26. He also provided another reason why she's a bad choice for
the r/w to spew.

I can't remember the name of the case, but it had to do with kids. No clue otherwise.

28.  It was the Gannt case.
I looked it up and it involved the demotion of the only black first grader back to kindergarten after he experienced difficulty in the class room. She authored a dissent which took into account that he had only 9 days in first grade before being sent back and the pattern in that district for sending back white children was longer. I assume that the RWers will use this as confirmation of Rush's racist argument. As an unexplained comment from Turley it makes little to no sense. I didn't like the pompous pop-in-jay when he aided and abetted the Republican attempted coup against Clinton. He has done nothing but cement my disdain for him with his ceaseless anti-Obama bloviating. What a tool.

31. Thank you for that!
Doesn't sound that controversial, but how does Turley think it could be used? Yes, Turley is a big tool. I'm glad he's outed himself, so maybe some people will realize what's up with him.

32.  It was quite satisfying watching the great moralist dissemble
on Countdown tonight. His belated recognition of Judge Sotomayor's brightness was so patronizing. When he pointed out that there had been criticism of her record as lacking in sufficient judicial heft, he failed to note that the chief critic in that regard had been himself. All in all a pretty dismal performance for the man who seems to see himself as the person who ought to be America's philosopher-king.

49. I hope Keith and Rachel get SO MUCH FLAK about him
that his bookings become few and far between. I'm off to contribute to that effort. I can now identify that edge of discomfort I've often felt about him despite agreeing with many of his positions. His criticism of Thurgood Marshall was BEYOND THE PALE. Truly one of those Jimmy the Greek, Al Campanis moments.

38. How about inserting a comma?
The GOP is saying she is (an activist judge), ignoring the fact that Scalia is the most activist judge SCOTUS has seen since the days of William O Douglas.

FYI, Scalia has spoken often of his desire to reverse the Miranda decision. If he had his druthers, Scalia would have the police beat up a confession from suspects.

Edited on Tue May-26-09 07:28 PM by LittleBlue
That's not a bad thing, certainly. All he said was that, on an appellate court, she may not have had an opportunity to distinguish herself. She may yet find her visionary voice, he said.

20. What does me having read them or not....have to do with what he said earlier?
Unless you're supposing to discredit my statement if I were to respond in the negative. However, my reading them or not has nothing to do with what he said of his own free will, and is basically getting lambasted for it as he should.

12. Oh course his punk ass is backtracking
The man just disrespected THURGOOD MARSHALL.

Somebody must have pulled this whining piece of shit aside, looked him in the face and said "are you out of your effing mind??" Over the next few days, expect lots of "Thurgood was brilliant and I'm sure that Sotomayor will be too!!one!" He'll probably start wearing a Coretta Scott King photo button on his lapel.

His screen name on DU will have a new signature line -- "I LOVE black people and they love me too!"
