I WANT SINGLE PAYER HEALTH CARE! FUCK YOU, INSURANCE!!!
this is my mantra. I saw the Bill Moyers program and had long understood what single payer was all about. Hey, you stupid fat assholes rolling in dough! You just got obseleted like our call center people and apparently auto workers. We don't NEED YOUR FUCKING HAND IN THE TILL taking our hard earned money so you can rub cocao butter on your fat ass in Mykonos.

Time to cut out the leeches and get the money to government agency to pay doctors and hospitals for our care. Write to your congressman or woman THIS WEEK.

2. Good luck defeating the "insurance" lobby.
Really, that's not sarcasm, our bills are ~6K a month. Me and Ms. bop would have to make $72,000 a year just to cover basic meds... no food, rent, cars, or anything else, that's just the meds.

I assume a large part of that is people "adding value" by processing paperwork, taking out TV ads, lobbying congress, and printing endless amounts of advertising telling me why I should be super-happy to pay them money, to pay six times the cost of we'd get in Canada, the UK, or France.

3. this country is slipping into a depression
and things may get bad enough that Uncle Sam can't take our money to bail out any more
insurance cos.

Too bad the banks were allowed to start selling insurance.

But when we go even broke-er than we are now, it may be that we get single payer.

Many companies aren't paying for insurance any more.

5. health insurance has become pigs feeding at the trough. kick them to the curb.
we don't need them. Just fire their asses and tell them the facts. We voters don't care how many fancy golf retreats they sent Tom DeLay or Max Baucus on. We voters don't care how many antiques Max Baucus could purchase with his bribe money from BIG INSURANCE. We will still vote his bony ass out of the Senate. Because he's fucking with us, his employers.

I'm not kidding. I want a grass roots effort to hold a figurative gun to that slime's head and tell him the nation will mobilize to get him voted out and someone else voted in.

We'll keep doing that until those fuckers get the point. We're not stopping til we get single payer insurance. PERIOD.

4. Our country should have had enough of this "ownership" society bullshit people spout.
Our country and quality of life are appreciably worse than they were before the RepubliCONs took power in 1994 and ESPECIALLY before old Bushie stepped onto the national stage as the thief of what was rightfully Al Gore's.

We must say no to these insurance companies by saying no to the MOTHERFUCKING JACKASSES taking their money and then jerking them off with whatever legislation they want.

I believe this calls for widespread civil disobedience. They just will not get it rammed through their fucking heads until everyone getting the shaft says NO FUCKING MORE!!!

I'm tired of my mom and dad and good friends paying their last cents so some fat fuck can bounce a young Brazilian off his putrid flesh in his $10,000 per night resort cabana.

Time to fire all of these horrible horrible people running the show in the insurance industry.

While we're at it. Send a few credit card company executives to prison for life for the savage usury they've perpetrated.

6. May 30th is a National Day of Action for Single Payer
http://www.pnhp.org/

In this area, we are going to meet on our state capital building steps, but I would stand in front of my Representative or Senator's office to. In fact, the Green Party has committed to doing that here on a regular basis, starting May 30. I'm a Democrat, but the GP is expecting to get some real mileage out of this issue.

23. Is that what they're saying?
They want some sort of public option, but is it clear this puts single payer on the table? I'm not sure.

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and 27 co-sponsors introduced a resolution Thursday demanding that any health care reform bill include a public insurance option.

The “sense of the Senate” resolution is the latest effort by a bloc of Democratic senators to influence the closed-door negotiations of the Finance Committee, where the bulk of the bill is being written. The group wrote a letter last month to Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Health Committee Chairman Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), calling the public option essential to reform.

-snip

The debate, though, centers on exactly how to construct a public plan. Some members of the Finance Committee have been giving consideration to a “fallback” plan, which would trigger a public insurance option if private competition proves inadequate in a geographic region.

Brown’s resolution does not stipulate what form a public plan should take — only that the legislation must provide one in order to give consumers choices.

22.  COWARD Baucus Flees From Single Payer Advocates

I had posted this last week but it deserves to be reposted.

Published on Thursday, May 21, 2009 by CommonDreams.org

Baucus Flees From Single Payer Advocates

by Single Payer Action

Senator Max Baucus (D-Montana) drove up to the front door of the Kaiser Family Foundation in downtown Washington, D.C. this morning.

His initial idea - park on G Street in front of the office building - and walk in the front door to meet reporters gathered inside.

But activists from Single Payer Action were out front, waiting to question Baucus about why, over the past two weeks, he ordered thirteen of them arrested, handcuffed, and charged with "disruption of Congress."

Upon seeing the activists gathered at the front door, Baucus drove down a back alley to a rear service entrance.

The activists followed him down the back alley.

Baucus pulled up to Kaiser's service entrance.

A large metal door opened.

"I asked Baucus to roll down his window so I could ask him a question," said Russell Mokhiber of Single Payer Action and the first of person arrested at the Senate Finance Committee on May 5. "But he shook his head no."

Baucus drove into the service entrance and the security guards rolled down the metal door. (Video to follow.).....

36. that's because people are MAD!!! that we are being told NO by our own leaders
so the narrative is quite well placed in our consciousness and what we need now is anger and action. Just whining on a message board or even eloquently elucidating a point of view on a message board isn't going to matter to anyone. So that is why you see the recs.

39. well, I wrote letters to my congressmen based on Bill Moyers article
and I am now encouraging others to do so. I see numerous links to events people can attend in California and elsewhere for May 30. I was given a link to a symposium by Rep. Earl Blumenaur and Governor Howard Dean on health care that I didn't even know was happening. SO now I registered to go to that on June 5.

That is just in half a day's time. More to come. But thanks for asking. I also hate when people get on here and just rant and don't use it as a vehicle for activity.
