Republican Congressman wants Obama to declare 2010 the "Year Of The Bible"
I wish I were joking... :eyes:

OK, no joke about this. Rep. Paul Broun has introduced a resolution to encourage Obama to declare that 2010 is The Year Of The Bible. Now, excuse me if I'm wrong about this, but I thought 2010 was going to be the Year of the Tiger.

Is anyone else sick of living in the United States of Jesustan? And, um, why are these 14 Congresscritters wasting their time with silly stuff like this when we've occupied 2 foreign countries and our economy is in the tank? Is it because they think the only possible way out of the mess the Republicans created is to pray? I mean, that's SLIGHTLY less obnoxious than being merely the "party of no" but it still doesn't get us anywhere.

Cosponsors:
Rep. Lynn Westmoreland
Rep. John Carter
Rep. James Forbes
Rep. John Gingrey
Rep. Zach Wamp
Rep. Todd Akin
Rep. Thaddeus McCotter
Rep. Mike Pence
Rep. Louis Gohmert
Rep. Trent Franks
Rep. Jim Jordan
Rep. Doug Lamborn
Rep. Kenny Marchant

An oldie but goody, by God!

It's not hard to see how that could have occurred in the past, seeing how fucking obnoxious they are. }(

8. WTF?
This is a ridiculous idea. It is scary that there are that many members of congress that are such nuts that they would propose this. If you read the text of the resolution, you find that they think that the Bible has had a major impact on our country's history. I also don't like this, because our country is in very bad condition right now with the economic crisis. I don't think it would ever be acceptable to propose such a resolution but at a time when we need congress working hard on crucial issues such as healthcare it is especially egregious.

20. Could it be they believe in politics more than they believe in the Bible?
If they truly believed in the Bible as the holy book of God's message, why on Earth would they want to limit it to one year?

I believe 2010 also happens to be an election year?...nah they wouldn't be that cynical, self serving, Machiavellian, hypocritical and manipulative of the American People's freedom of faith or non-faith, I 'm sure their mamas love them.

...The Koran, Bhagavad Gita, Tibetan Buddhist Book of the Dead, Crowley's Book of the Law, and even Dianetics and Richard Dawkins, why the fuck not? Then we'll celebrate on thru the Eddas, The Egyptian Book of the Dead and eventually light on Ovid's Metamorphisis.

Maybe we'll have some tolerance around here once everybody knows that everybody else really just wants the same things from life...or at least is a bugfuck insane as anyone else. :)

31. Ironic thing is that Repukes couldn't give two shits about the Bible
Obviously the commandments "Thou shalt not kill" and "Thou shalt not steal" don't seem to register at all with them. Let alone the repeated condemnation of usury throughout the entire Old Testament. And I doubt any of them could quote even one line of JC's Sermon on the Mount.

35. And in related news...
those same legislators would like to see 2011 be noted as the year that all women returned to working in the home, and wearing dresses everyday. Men could eagerly look forward to coming home to supper ready & waiting at 5pm sharp, and his wife waiting for him upstairs as soon as the kids are tucked into bed.

Also, all gay people would take a magical pill and would wake up the next morning attracted only to those of the opposite sex...

What a nice 1953 Euphoria....

:eyes: Fucking Idiots.
